If this person is the same one you caught engaging in illegal activity on the job, rat them out!!! Just kidding. Eff'em! I know my family, co-workers and 99% of the town I live in are only interested in the flavor-of-the-day music. When I wear a Wilco t-shirt and somebody aks what's that, I say it's a gas station. A person either gets Wilco or they don't. Perhaps you should invite your more likeable or open-minded co-workers to a show, or make a mix tape as a gift. Otherwise, you may as well argue politics with them because they have no clue about how great Wilco is.

Between Braun and Morgan, the opposing fans in the outfield are going to have a fucking grand old time. They should call the Brewer outfield The Dogpile.

MLB has a precedence for the 25 game suspension. That's what they offered J.C. Romero when he tested positive after using a supplement that wasn't fully and properly labeled. Romero turned down the 25 game suspension because he did not want to say he was guilty, so he received the mandatory 50 game suspension. Perhaps the privacy issue will prompt MLB to waive Braun's suspension.

He expressed an unhappiness about not getting any opportunities to close with the Brewers. Honestly he was a good teammate about it because he wanted to be a part of the 2011 postseason in Milwaukee. It was clear, however, he intended to move on, seeking a closer's job. He did what he has a right to do and the Brewers took the risk, but with being a Boras client and his desire to close, all indications from his side was that he wanted to leave so he could close again.

This is good for the Cardinals. Pujols' salary would have become an albatross for them.

They were crying poor, given taxed revenue to compete, but didn't compete. The extended Ramirez and Johnson only when the other owners started crying foul about what the Marlins were doing with their tax rewards. The owners must have known something was amiss with the Marlins - they weren't complaining about the Rays, Royals, A's - just the Marlins. Now they're spending like a northeastern team? There's something fishy about those Marlins! In other news, David Ortiz accepted arbitration, so Big Papi is staying in Boston for at least one more year. And K-Rod fucked the Brewers by also acce

Maybe they should pay back their welfare payments then.

I thought there was a limit of 3 Type A free agent signings per team per season. Did that change?

Did we skip to 80 for some reason?

If you really think about it from a baseball standpoint, the Cardinals could let Albert Pujols leave and not be hurt much by it. They have solid 3-4-5 hitters in Berkman, Holliday and Freese. With the money they're offering Pujols they could trade for David Wright, move Freese to 1B, his natural position, sign a starter like Buehrle, a decent reliever and a bench player. Signing anyone into their 40's is insane, especially for large money. The Cardinals should offer no more than 8 yeas, $25MM per and let Albert take the heat if he leaves. With both Freese and Berkman being capable of playing f

They think they're being romantic. Santo and Buck O'Neil both should've gotten in long ago.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111130&content_id=26060702&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Ron Santo has finally been elected to the Hall of Fame. At least one year too late.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111204&content_id=26089768&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Then there's the (apparently) never ending Manny Saga: Manny Ramirez applied for reinstatement and had his suspension cut in half to 50 games should he be signed and activated. G' luck in finding employment, Manuel!

I've seen how Wilco fans dance. There should be more sitting at their shows. It would also make it easier to conversate.

He has a tremendous value in his current role as a high-end utility player, a role he didn't want but is best suited for. I don't see him as a part-time player. He should play every day where needed, as Tony Phillips did in the '90's. Any team would love to have a guy who can do what he does. He's a luxury and important to the Rangers, but he's not really league MVP material. Also, irrelevantly, he's overpaid.
-
Michael Young's value is definetly arguable. He was the only player to garner at least one vote in each ranking in the top ten, but he only received one vote in slots one through six. Why anyone would allot him a vote at first, second or third place is beyond me. He has a value, but a league MVP? I don't know about that. And Mike Avila was the best hitting catcher in MLB in 2011. I'd certainly take him over Michael Young, whom I do respect as a player by the way.

Getting Hitched! (elope or no?) What was your wedding like?
The High Heat replied to SarahC's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
If you elope you can still have a celebration bash at your chosing. Perhaps you could even video record the ceremony and play it at the party for all of those who wanted to see it but couldn't. I wouldn't worry too much about pleasing everybody. -
Saw that one tonight!
