I live in eastern NC and just felt an earthquake. Apparently a 6.0 somewhere in Virginia, felt all the way up to Mass. NYC felt a rumble, but the people in DC first worried about a bomb - bad memories, unfortunately. Anybody else feel it? My first one. No big deal, but weird.

I've had three different serious left foot injuries, including one surgery, but I barely missed the achilles by about a couple of centimeters. I feel for you, but I echo the PT-from-the-get-go advice. Atrophy is a bitch to overcome. I think I only came back about 95% after the third injury, partly because I didn't do enough assigned exercises from the start. The swelling made it real hard to do anything, but I should have pushed a little harder. Maybe I would have gotten back to 98-99%.

I watched every one of those clips the other night for the kajillionth time. Love them!!!

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110819&content_id=23424490&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Cubs dismissed GM Jim Hendry today, but he was told nearly a month ago his services would no longer be needed after the trade and draft signing deadlines. I'm sure the new owner would love it for a couple of those heavy contracts he gave out were to be picked off by waiver claims by other clubs in the next couple of weeks.

You can't find them because they've been following you. Turn around once in a while.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2011/aug/05/rowan-atkinson-mclaren-f1-crash?mobile-redirect=false Rowan Atkinson is doing fine after spinout. His McLaren F1, however, is not. -
Don't know about future shows, but I caught the end of Letterman last night. Dave liked Drive By Truckers so much he asked them to encore the show to its close. He rarely does that. I saw him do it once for nostaglia's sake with The Spinners.

I used one of those generators and it translated Jeff Tweedy to Lono Mamo.

Does Kahn's sell walrus weiners? -
I like Pat. I like Nels. I think I like Pat more than I like Nels. But I like Nels. If there's anything you don't like about Wilco, including band members, blame Jeff for it. He writes the songs, picks his team and gets the glory, so why shouldn't he get the blame for any shortcomings (real or imagined)? Personally I give Tweedy's songwriting the blame for the overall weakness of W(TA). We've heard him do better. A lot better.

Any Good News in PHILLY Sports TODAY???
The High Heat replied to dagwave's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Completely werth it! Younger, right-handed hitting 5-hole hitter, under team control for 2+ seasons, and already All Star caliber, Pence provides the balance the Phils have been missing all season with Jayson Werth's departure. Plus, they hold on to Brown and Worley and get enough cash from the Astros to stay under luxury tax threshold. Wise play on Amaro's part. -

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/cliff_corcoran/07/29/hunter.pence.phillies.trade.reaction/ I don't follow any sport but baseball and the Phils are my team. They got their #5 hitter and right-handed bat they've been needing in acquiring Hunter Pence and $1MM from Houston for minor league pitchers Cosart and Zeid, first base prospect Singleton and a lesser prospect to be named later. This is the guy I was hoping they'd get! -

No. It's just the mobile site. I just checked. I can watch the videos again now. Must have been an update period for them. Thanks anyway.

For 2 years I've been watching highlights on my iPhone on MLB's mobile website in the "Video" section, but the past two days I've been getting the message "This feature not available on this phone." Do any of you who have an iPhone have this same problem?

That question was raised with Elvis' death. Sure, his "Memphis Mafia" was a bunch of relatives and cronies, but, as they pointed out, they tried to get him to stop but he'd threaten to fire them. They figured he'd be better off with them than with a bunch of strangers or by himself. They tried to help Elvis save him from himself, but he was in denial about his drug abuse. Some did leave him because they couldn't tolerate seeing him destroy himself, but the ones who stayed were trying to help manage his addiction with the hope he'd last long enough to overcome it (like Johnny Cash did). He didn

D. Boon is on that list. Another musician to add to it is Ross Harman of The Gaskets, a band you might have seen a few years back on the late Saturday night PBS music show "The Music Seen." He killed himself at age 27 last September. Too bad, he was very talented. The only thing I know about Winehouse is that she had troubles, but young people dying is just about the worst.

Former Baseball GReat Dale Murphy's take on Wilco
The High Heat replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Just A Fan
If I had to guess a current player being a Wilco fan I'd pick Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey. I've heard interviews by him. He reads quite a bit and has generally more of a thinker's mind than that of a jock. -
