  1. Nine teams are reportedly beyond MLB's debt limit requirement. This info comes from anonymous sources, so I have to wonder if this is the first shot in the CBA negotiations.
  2. Joe Torre will be calling Sabean about his comments. It should be noted that Scott Cousins lives in the San Fransisco area and has received death threats over the play. The Giants have a fan in a coma because of over zealous fanhood gone crazy. If any organization should know better than to put a bullseye on one person, it should be the Giants.
  3. Giants GM promises revenge on Scott Cousins.
  4. The ascension of Jose Bautista. Anytime I come across one of his highlights I have to watch. Even though I'm not a home run freak, I'm becoming enamored with the man's exploits on the field. Damn, those balls just jump off his bat.
  5. Another example of poor plate protection by a catcher, this time costing the Royals the ballgame. Pena was doing fine until he pulled that ole move right at point when he should have been dropping down on the sliding runner, assertively bringing the tag to him, preventing a score and a loss. Third base coach Dave Anderson is a genius for sending Mike Napoli of all guys, right?
  6. Longtime MLB catcher Buck Martinez criticizes Buster Posey's approach on the collision play. Martinez had his own leg broken in a collision when his cleat got stuck in the mud, but he still managed to turn a double play and tag out two runners at the plate after breaking his leg! Carter, Martinez, Scioscia, Bench: Guys like these knew how to cover the plate!
  7. Brain tumors, 90% chance of malignancy. He went to the hospital at Duke Univ. for preliminary tests and will now go for more thorough testing.
  8. Posey is on his knees, giving himself no back-leg support. Awaiting the throw from right field he should have his left foot on the edge of the plate, and then drop down on the runner when the ball arrives. Without control of the ball or himself, Posey left no part of the plate available to the runner, who had no choice but to plow on through. It's very similar to how Cleveland's rookie catcher had his leg snapped last year. You don't block the plate without ball control, and when you do, you need leverage. Posey didn't have any because he he tried to block from his knees while juggling the bal
  9. Buster Posey got absolutely creamed last night. Early Twitter reports are that he has ligament damage and a broken ankle. Done for the the season. His agent wants a rule change on home plate collisions, but what Posey (and a lot of other catchers) needs is to learn proper plate blocking technique.
  10. First there was "I Got You, Babe" Then there was "You and I" Candy duet pop songs, green shirts, watches, fucked-up hair, and crotch-reaching. All we need is a Tweedy smile and Jeff will be "all Bono."
  11. It may have been just because of the time frame that Tweedy may have been more political. It was before, during and after an election where Bush was running and re-elected, and Tweedy, a liberal, was probably more vocal about the condition of the country/world with that particular Republican in charge. He was the same (or maybe more so) in 2008. Still, I don't think Tweedy has even approached Bono level. I'd rather performers perform than preach or pander. Entertain me while I escape the world for a couple hours, please. That's what I'm paying for.
  12. Give lamrod a prize! New date: October 21 For a man anxious to go, this guy sure has a never say die attitude.
  13. Wilco had better not sign, work with, nor any way associate themselves with Toby Keith. They do - I'm out!
  14. Savage died the same day Slim Jim closed one of its plants in Garner, NC, putting 200 people out of work. Bad karma, man.
  15. Wilco Presents SEAL Team 6 Watch Your Ass, al Qaeda!
  16. Macho Man's first career was as Randy Poffo, minor league ball player. Stats (high school)
  17. You put me against the wall, man! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfosfT8Ojbg
  18. Jose Bautista sat out a week and still leads the AL in at least 7 offensive categories. 3 jacks yesterday. Why even pitch to him anymore?
  19. I had a hard time believing Dylan had written "Just ask anyone was there." Bob ain't the kind of guy looking for backup on his word (or much of anything else).
  20. A high price to pay for foolishness: Kendrys Morales will have a second surgery on his busted ankle, will miss this season too. Yikes!
