New Rangers owner Chuck Greenberg to step down as team CEO. Apparently he doesn't get along with his own front office and the minority owners.

Ruins the whole point and impact of the song.

But he's been acting like a Met!

The company I work for is hard-core non-union, but it has incentive to be more accomodating in employee relations than it used to be because of the threat of unionization. On the other hand, it's become very difficult to terminate persons who greatly underperform because they might join a union in their efforts to unionize us (or so my employer believes). Of course, they contradict themselves by not giving raises to most of us and by cutting everyone's yearly bonus in half.

And just what is the deal with you and guys named Jay anyway?

Too young to go. RIP. Have any of you read "A Freewheelin' Time"? I know it's more about the times they were in and not about her and Dylan. I came across it at a store last year, but I didn't bother with it. Should I have?

Wainwright will indeed have TJ surgery next week and will not pitch in 2011, therefore his vesting options will not kick in. If Carpenter goes down again, Pujols may be begging to be traded by the All Star break.

Adam Wainwright has a serious elbow injury, and may need TJ surgery and miss the entire season.

This is not my first bike, but I had this or something similar in the early '80's. I difinitely had the plastic spokes, and I also had the pain-in-the-ass, honeycombed patterned airless tires that collected pebbles, causing bumpy rides and stone-pulling stops. What I remember the most about my first bike is sliding off the seat and landing on the straight bar. I sat on the side of the road, crying and whining in a high-pitched tone I didn't know I was capable of. I laid there until I could move again. Mostly I still miss my Big Wheel. It's the most disheartening memory when I think about t

Why Would You Wanna Live? ~ Wilco What Good Am I? ~ Wilco (Wilco Book CD)

I feel you on that, but if I had seen the performance in the below video from where they came back to town to play in one of those free "music in the streets" type downtown festivals about five or so years ago, I would have kept on walking and went a block away to my favorite pizza joint, where Scott probably used to play. I know it's just one song and it's an outdoor concert where most of the people milling around have no clue who these dudes are, but I just can't get into this type of song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IZe7apZ5j0

Blue Jays sign Jose Bautista to a 5 year/$64MM contract. They're hoping he's not a one year wonder, obviously.

Bands you wish that you had seen, but missed the chance

I went to my first and only Dylan show last October, one reason being I didn't want to have the regret of having never seen him live. -

Became a Wilco fan in '99. Could have seen them live in '00 if I would have extended a vacation by one day, but I decided not to go. Didn't get to see them live until '04, and have seen them five times since then. I've enjoyed the current Wilco live, but I think I missed out on something special. -
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera arrested for DUI. Probably a bad idea to take a swig of scotch in front of the police officer after being pulled over.

Sometime around the turn of the century I had the same experience on the top floor of the B&N in downtown Baltimore. I couldn't believe how much hard-to-find music was in there. Man, if I were rich I would have needed a little red wagon to haul everything I wanted. I finally found A.M. there (wasn't available anywhere near where I live), and, I swear, the Lt. from Law & Order (S. Epatha whatever her name is) was in there shopping, too! -
Ok, so I'm researching these two bands backing up Dylan and learned The Avett Brothers origins started in the town I currently live in. (Scott attended East Carolina University in Greenville NC, his brother had another band in Charlotte, where they're from.) I had no clue that a local band named 'Nemo' would end up one day sharing a stage with Bob Dylan on national television. The local bands here are for the most part cover bands and copycats. Shit music mostly; definitely a pop/pop country/hip hop/"Wilco is just a gas station" town. I doubt they would have made it if they had stuck around th
