Hats off to you and your Giants 2010 Championship! I wouldn't mind a NLCS rematch (but with a different outcome)!

Pitchers and catchers report! Interesting season ahead! Will there be more top prospects making an impact this season? Will last years rookies keep up their progress? Will they regress? Will each teams' Hot Stove plans work out or blow up? And will the Albert Pujols contract situation become a season-long St. Louis soap opera, or will the two sides work it out? In the NL, the Phillies appear to be the only dominant team, but it's baseball and anything can happen. The Braves and Marlins look competitive. The Nationals look a little better, but may only surpass the Mets in the East. The Reds

2010 MLB - Playoffs and hot stove!
The High Heat replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I thought about that yesterday. If Young was a free agent, he'd be looking at $16MM total for two years. Hot stove is basically over. It's going to be difficult to trade him since teams have pretty much set their teams and budgets up. If they went big money for big money, who could they get? Barry Zito? -

College coach donates a kidney to one of his players. That's the good stuff right there! -
You are the axis point of Via Chicago.

A few years ago I interviewed a Lincoln scholar and he mentioned he was working on a new Lincoln book, but he declined to talk about the book's angle. Turned out to be the "Lincoln might have been gay" book.

If you didn't read the original thread, why comment? The original mentioned a journal. The thread had several responses about meeting up before shows, and any misunderstanding about making a book about the experience could have been discussed before deleting the entire thread. Nobody involved in the thread had any complaints. Via Chicago does have a history of jumping harshly on street teammers - and should, but it has a history on jumping on newbies just because they're new and expressing themselves. A misunderstanding of self-promotion took place in this instance, but it happens far too of

I had no interest in your project or those Wilco shows (because I don't live in those areas), but I didn't see anything wrong with your posts or the thread itself. You were clearly not street teamming. A lot of long time members here have moved on to other sites. If this place is going to survive then we really need to quit giving shit to the newbies. Even if this site was still booming, it needs to stop. I find it to be quite juvenile and insecure to attack people just because they're new. Most of us don't really "know" each other anyway, so what's with the attacking of the newbies anyway?

Isn't this basically how Tomorrow the Green Grass ends?

Why is there such disappointment over Wilco(The Album)?
The High Heat replied to realrival's topic in Just A Fan
I wouldn't listen to WTA if it didn't have Jeff Tweedy's voice on it. On the other hand, it's the Wilco album I listen to the least. Fortunately I'm not a strictly album listener. I love to cherry-pick songs from every album and make my own playlists. WTA doesn't give as much to choose from and its songs make my cut list decisions easier. -

That report was from the Rangers. Young says he wants out because he was deceived by Rangers management about the possibility of being traded after they acquired Beltre and Napoli. My opinion: Moreland is good, but will probably never be great. I'd trade him while his value is high in a package for a top of the rotation starter, and play Young at first. The Rangers rotation is full of 3/4 starters, and I have doubts about their ability to repeat with what they have. -

Upon further review Michael Young has decided he does not want to be a DH, so he has requested the Rangers to explore trading him. Young was a little slow at 3B, but still is a viable option for SS and especially 2B. However, he still has $16MM per year coming to him for the next three seasons. The Rangers will have to swallow about a year's worth of that, unless they trade him for another high-paid player. Young also has a limited no-trade clause in his contract, but he becomes a 5/10 player in May, in which case he has full no-trade player's rights under the CBA. -

Updates: Andy Pettitte retired. Orioles sign Justin Duscherer and Vladamir Guerrero (1 year, $8MM). Yankees sign Eric Chavez to a minor league contract. Jim Edmonds back to the Cards on a minor league deal. ChiSox ink Lastings Milledge to minor league pact. Mark Kotsay signs with Milwaukee. Robinson Cano hired a new agent, a Mr. Boras. Cha-ching!!! -
Porn Week at Church I'm quite sure that several people (some probably wearing robes) were severely disappointed when they showed up at service without having checked out that website first.

I like all of Wilco's styles, but in the rare instances when they flat out rock-out, I'm always impressed. It would be nice to hear them let it fly for one album. I'm particularly fond of "Let's Not Get Carried Away." I do think that Reprise suggested this about 15 years ago, and I believe the boys rejected this notion.

I've seen commercials lately telling me that it's Porn Week at Church. I'm not sure even THAT can compete with the Super Bowl.

I wouldn't mind falling back on a bunch of easy rockers. Just a thought I have sometimes.

Delete the adverbs. For some reason I really enjoyed King's telling of his accident of getting hit by a van.
