I'm glad I missed out on the San Fransisco turf. I didn't get hooked on watching baseball on tv until the '79 All Star game when "The Cobra" Dave Parker threw a perfect strike to home plate from deep right field to nail Brian Downing trying to score. I was eight years old and in that moment I became galvanized by all things baseball.

Eww. Cold, windy AND astroturf. Musta been fun to play in Candlestick all the way back in the 70's.

Atlanta had grass, but it's easy to get Fulton County Stadium confused with Philly, P-burgh, Cincy & St. Louis because they all looked alike, as they were all built in the same era. I don't remember Candlestick having turf. Was that in the early days of turf?

You got it. Hopefully, within the next ten years it will just be Toronto.

Target Field is looking pretty sweet! There's about an inch of foul territory in the outfield corners.

My biggest pet peeve is people, but only in real time.

I don't think too many of Jon Stewart's viewers will be turning the channel to see Conan.

There is an independent league team in Japan named Kobe Cruise 9. That is so incredibly fucking cool. MLB would never do something like that. They wouldn't know how.

My newest pet peeve is when a restaurant server asks me, "Are you doing okay?" during the meal. It stumps me every time. I've been here twenty minutes and I'm halfway through the meal and NOW you're giving me a greeting? I just don't get it.

If Toyota had come clean sooner we wouldn't be in this situation. -
The umpire crew in last night's Yanks/Sox game contained both Joe West and Angel Hernandez. Is the umpire's clubhouse in Fenway big enough to hold that much ego? Why not throw in C.B. Bucknor just for kicks.

But they haven't won a game all season.

They don't look a day over 80.

I got into Wilco in '99 and I dove right in, having discovered the music I'd been searching for my whole life. One beautiful and mild day I was driving around, playing Summerteeth, and I got so into it that I ended up taking a very long cruise down some very back country roads - the kind where you don't see houses for miles. I go around a sharp curve and find myself driving through a set of farm fields (both sides of the road) that have been set on fire. I've got the windows down, A Shot in the Arm thrown wide open, flames are as high as the car and I can feel the heat. It's an image and a mem

Sounds like there's going to be a heartache tonight, but in the long run if you take it easy you'll have a peaceful, easy feeling.

Taxi Carol Burnett Show Dick Van Dyke Show Mary Tyler Moore Show First 2,3 seasons of Law & Order (before it became a factory) I don't know about current shows as I haven't watched much tv in the last 7 years. I would have loved to have seen Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows. I've heard that was fantastic with Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks, amongst others, as writers. Is it available on dvd at all?

There's going to be a riot in downtown Dayton tonight, but only because it's Thursday.
