  1. But...Wilco's site gave Jay about as much as Spoon's site gave this Jay, unless I'm remembering wrong.
  2. I refuse to believe that Leno has nothing to do with this. I'm sorry, I'll admit that NBC is most to blame, but I just don't see it as likely that Leno is merely doing what NBC wants, and not a little bit of vice-versa.
  3. Your post said Leno at 12:05, Conan at 12. That's what I meant.
  4. But Leno already did give up the 11:35 slot. You're missing that point.
  5. But actual ratings are hard to interpret nowadays, what with the internet and all. Letterman & Conan fans might be watching Letterman on TV, and Conan online.
  6. It's possible that Conan fans are also Letterman fans. The overlap complicates things. As far as Fallon, I've only watched him to see the Roots, for whatever that's worth. And Jon Stewart won't leave his show for a regular talk show. Him and the Daily Show are too perfect. I think NBC would even have a hard time fucking that one up.
  7. Pushing the show back half an hour is a huge insult, as Dude said. Obviously it's a small amount of time, but it's not about that. Not to mention the fact that it's no longer the Tonight Show. Even if it retains the name, as the second late night talk show, it really isn't the Tonight Show at all. Which is why Conan is getting screwed, and still hasn't had a fair shot at hosting it. And he won't get that shot unless Leno leaves altogether, and Conan gets to host at 11:35.
  8. People that are writing off Conan as a poor fit for the Tonight Show anyway are being incredibly unfair. Seven months is not near enough time to adjust to a new show/set/audience/time. Of course it takes time for him to figure out what works at that time, and what doesn't, but the episodes of his show I've watched are hilarious. He's a funny guy that will be on late night tv for a good long time. And NBC has truly screwed themselves if he walks away.
  9. Letterman is loving this chance to bash Jay without looking like an ass.
  10. The best part about this is that, while this is all settled, all the late night hosts, Conan especially, have their own forum to call NBC out on their screwup.
  11. Bit of an inside joke here, Robby. Look at the thread in Someone Else's Song. It'll all make sense then.
  12. I like this idea, actually. It seems Jay wouldn't do it, though.
  13. Calling Conan's Tonight Show a fail already is just ridiculous. He hasn't been given a legitimate chance yet.
  14. Yup, that part. Brilliant. Basically, when you look at the big picture, NBC gave Conan a job, and now they're essentially taking it away. Leno fan or Conan fan, that's messed up.
  15. Yea, I'm not gonna believe that Leno is being shuffled around without any say in the deal. Obviously NBC is most to blame, but don't let Leno off that easily. If NBC has any intelligence, they let go of Leno because Conan will be around for a long time, and if they let him go, he's gone for good.
  16. Good for Conan indeed. That was a classy statement. It's all on NBC now. And at the end of Conan's statement.
  17. I'd say, right now, it's: 50's My jazz exploration is relatively recent, so there's a lot I haven't heard, but I'd go with Kind of Blue (Miles) and Mingus Ah Um 60's Blonde on Blonde (Dylan) and Hot Rats (Zappa) 70's Quadrophenia (The Who) and Desire (Dylan) 80's Purple Rain (Prince) and Paul's Boutique (Beastie Boys) 90's Radiator (or maybe Guerilla) (SFA) and In Utero (Nirvana) 00's Phantom Power (or maybe Dark Days/Light Years) (SFA) and Songs for the Deaf (QOTSA)
  18. I definitely a hear a lot of rawness to this one. Telephono is a criminally overlooked album, and that's not a slick album by any means. As flawless as I think Ga5 is, it's a very crisp, poppy album. Transference isn't. But it's damn good. Before Destruction has some killer lines. Lines like "just as you're leaving you turn around and take a cold shot" are exactly why I love Britt as a lyricist.
  19. I loved Letterman's jokes about Carson Daly last night. Anyone see that?
  20. I don't think anyone in the band cares what the newfound GaGaGaGaGa fans think. Sadly, this record's reviews will all point out that it's there "anti-pop record" or their "Kid A" or whatever, but it's not without truth. I love this album so far, but it's not them taking a shot at the big time. However, the songs are great, and it sounds like Spoon. It may not have horn sections and poppy choruses, but it sounds like Spoon. Sounding like Spoon is never bad.
  21. Didn't Leno agree to leave, then bitch about it until NBC relented and gave him that coveted 10:00 spot? That's what I remember reading somewhere. Either way, I feel bad for Conan. People seem to be forgetting that he moved his entire life across the country for this job. Ratings or not, it's fucked up to just take it back.
