The Official Bob Dylan Thread
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to RainDogToo's topic in Someone Else's Song
Apparently no one from the tour group recognized Dylan. -
My money's on You Never Know. They already played Wilco (The Song) on a TV show, and YNK is the single, so it's most logical for them to play it.
-
YES! Wilco and Conan?!? Wishful thinking, but Jeff should do an interview (or even better...a skit) with Conan.
-
No, for people who buy the actual CD through anywhere that isn't iTunes. I downloaded the leak, and I will pre-order the CD soon, but not through iTunes, so I will have to find Dark Neon somewhere to download.

Wilco (the album). Still into it?
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to theologians's topic in Just A Fan
My thing with Country is that it doesn't jump out at me, or stick in my head, but when I listen to it, I really enjoy it. It's strange. As a whole, I still love the album, but like I said, other albums are consuming me at the moment. -

Ohh, shame. I'll still check it out, though. I've been pretty pleased with Plan 9 when it comes to CDs, so it's no big deal. Speaking of, when I first went, I was expecting Plan 9 to be quite expensive with new CDs, and while the new releases are a bit much (but still reasonable), they have some random older albums that are very cheap to get new. I once got new, remastered copies of The Who Sell Out and the Band's Stage Fright for a total of like, $12. And the used CD selection is pretty worthwhile. I've gotten some good stuff from there for pretty cheap. -
I've spent the last few weeks watching Seinfeld from premier to finale, in order, skipping nothing. I'm working my way through season nine right now. It's been a wonderful journey.

Meh. I'm not at all picky with records, and I really only buy vinyl if I see interesting looking albums for cheap prices. I've had no complaints with Plan 9. Does this place on Robinson sell CDs as well? They are still the large majority of my music purchases these days. -

Ok. I'll check it out once school starts, and I'm back in Richmond. It sounds worthwhile. I've only seriously looked through Plan 9's record stash once, but I ended up leaving with six very good records for $16, so it was worthwhile. My vinyl collection is built on good records I found for $1, so this should be worth checking out. Thanks for the address! -

Hmm. I will have to check that place out once I move back to Richmond. Other than Plan 9, and this tiny place on Pine St, I haven't been to any other record stores in Richmond. This Robinson St one sounds promising, though. How affordable is it overall? -
You know you can pick and choose what you download from all the files in a torrent, right? In other words, you can download just BBN without downloading the entire show.

I didn't say you vented. I said you ventURed. Meaning you clicked on this thread, despite saying you were ignoring all threads pertain to this one's topic. -

Yet you ventured into this thread? -
I remember being a pretty big fan of that album. I've since grown out of my heavy Beatles interest, but I saw that album on my CD shelf recently, and might give it a spin sometime soon.

Wilco (the album). Still into it?

To be honest, I've kinda moved on. I still think it's a great album, and I'll definitely pick it back up closer to the concert in July, which I'm quite excited for, but I've found several other albums I'd rather listen to nowadays. -
Hmm, so it is in its own designed sleeve. Thanks. My issue isn't protecting the disk, but I wanted it to be in some sort of case to sit on my CD shelf with all the other Wilco CDs. I'm slightly OCD (no pun intended), so if it was just the disc, there would have been a problem.

Wilco ex-member sues frontman Tweedy
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to tkleist's topic in Just A Fan
Jay and Jeff weren't a divorced couple; they didn't need to keep each other informed on where they lived, and such. I'd say a majority of people will move at least once in eight years, so none of this is really that strange. -

Pitchfork Media's reaction to the new record
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Clint09eastwood's topic in Just A Fan
Why do people take reviews so seriously? Curiosity leads me to read Pitchfork reviews of albums I like, but doing so never affects my enjoyment of the album. Especially since Pitchfork doesn't seem to know how to actually review albums, instead of merely discussing band images and blog hype. If you disagree with the review, then ignore it. It's so simple. -
Hmm, that would probably be a considerably large source of income. I assume all these gigs were relatively close to wherever the Tonight Show studios are, so I would have never heard anyone mention them. I do remember seeing him say he does stand up when he can, though.
-
Then how does he afford all those cars he collects? I don't really know how much stand up comics make, but I didn't think they'd make enough to collect cars. How often did he do stand up gigs? Side note, I don't like Jay Leno at all. I watched his second to last episode to see Prince, and Leno didn't make me laugh at all. I felt bad for him after most of his lame jokes.

Great album. Even greater cover art. -
What did yours look like?

I'm just slightly obsessive about being able to have every Wilco, or any band, CD in a nice little group on the shelf, so I was hoping the CD wasn't just thrown in the vinyl sleeve without a case of its own. My vinyl collection consists of a bunch of cheap used albums, and a copy of SFA's "Hey Venus!" I bought at a concert last year. It'll be nice to add a second new LP to that collection. $19 for both is a pretty good deal, so I'm gonna go ahead and order that.

I emailed nonesuch asking this exact question, and this is the answer I got: Dear Customer: The CD comes in a designed sleeve and slips inside the LP's jacket. There is no CD booklet, but there is a designed sleeve for the vinyl with all of the lyrics and photos from the CD booklet. Hope that helps. Sincerely, Nonesuch Online Customer Support So I guess the CD is just in a cardboard sleeve with the album art. The only thing that was holding me back from the CD/LP combo was that I want the CD in its own case for my CD shelf, but a cardboard sleeve will work fine.
