  1. This happened to us. It's always after inviting everyone you know and advertising the heck out of it. How hard is it to keep a calendar? And confirm a booking before you get someone else instead? But then again, many of the bar owners or managers we have dealt with are such unorganized burn outs.
  2. Whiskey for the holy ghost by Mark Lanagen is perfect. Mazzy Star Meddle - Pink Floyd
  3. Why am I just hearing about this now?
  4. Thanks for listening! Yeah, we decided to speed it up a bit. Seems to really get people out on the dance floor. I totally winged the solo but it's not too bad. I do love me some Hendrix.
  5. Our bands version of Stone Free from a few years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cayEJ38fEHQ&feature=related
  6. This is really cool, it seamlessly mixes together different performances of Statesboro Blues from different eras of the band and attaches animated video. Animated Statesboro
  7. Must be nice being Jeff Dunham although I think he is a hack. But 200,000 and all he has to do is bring a few dolls with him. Pure profit.
  8. I agree that Smells like teen spirit should not be #1. It was a game changer and all but not even the best Nirvana song by any stretch. But it should have been ahead of many others. At least in the top 10. I'm pretty happy with Gold Soundz being #1 though. I am bringing a friend to the Pavement show on Thursday and he has never heard them (I know, weird). I had sent him Gold Soundz as the epitome of what the band sounds like. That Aaliyah song does represent the 90's pretty well although not really something I listened to. You can't really escape the Timbaland influence on that decade
  9. I know I'm overly harsh about them. Just one of those singers who gets on my nerves. I like the music alright and really like Slash, Duff, an Izzy. It was mostly the constant whistling, and humming and saying "ay, ay, ay". He just never seemed to have a sense of when he didn't need to be making any noise. He does sound good on Sweet Child and a few others though. I find Knockin on heavens door and a few others just absolutely unlistenable.
  10. We are pretty satisfied to get a free bar tab at this point so we have a ways to go.
  11. I know everybody hates Pitchfork or whatever but I do find their lists interesting. Wilco made the list at #74 with Via Chicago. Gold Soundz at #1 was a surprise. And some of the songs ahead of Smells like teen spirit were odd choices, like Say it ain't so by Weezer? No way. Top 200 of the 90's
  12. Our band once got paid $750 for a gig which I thought was complete robbery and embarrasing, but I took it (yes, we are that bad). Can't say I have liked anything Aerosmith did since the 70's but one listen to "Rocks"and I remember why this band matters. For awhile in the early 80's, Rocks and Live Bootleg were all we listened to.
  13. This. Not sure there was ever a bigger tool and more over rated singer in rock than Axl.
  14. Helps explain how they manage to keep it together through all the issues.
  15. Wow, I am so not that ambitious or even capable. I'll pay the extra money every time to have someone else do it. Problem is I always get talked into fancy double matting and things that cost a ton more than I planned. But then again, if you are going to hang it on your wall and see it every day, a little extra money is probably worth it.
  16. It's never cheap but any of the 1000's of frame stores out there should be able to do it.
  17. Poor Jimenez can't get that 18th win. If he was on a team with some offense you could be at 22 wins. Of course Lincecum was on last night, great pitchers duel.
  18. Meh, I like the Besnard Lakes version of I got a Feeling. The Jim Jones Review does a nice Get Back. CW Stoneking does a nice Maggie Mae. Other than that I really don't like much on here. I'm not an easy person to please when it comes to Beatles re-makes.
  19. The new issue of MOJO has the album Let it Be re-recorded by various people. I didn't realize how tough I am to please on Beatle re-makes. If they don't change it up enough I think "well, you are not really bringing anything new to the table". If they change the song too much I end up hating it because it's too different. It's a fine line. I don't think I have ever heard a Beatles re-make that I like better than the original.
  20. I think listening to part of one song does not allow me to make any kind of determination on the matter. And PopTodd has a good taste in music so I need to give it another shot with an open mind.
  21. I never fail to crank "Whatever gets you thru the night" when it comes on the radio either.
  22. Yeah, I don't know. Trying too hard to be Paul Westerberg or something in that clip. I'm going to need more proof. I think I would listen to Wang Chung over Goo Goo dolls.
  23. I actually like it more now then when it came out. Didn't care for it much before but it has grown on me over the years.
