  1. that makes me extremely jealous. i only saw them once, on tour w/ Hammerhead and i forget who else. goddamn was that show amazing.
  2. i've created a monster by shinging a light on the 'search this topic' functionality.
  3. Hixter's final sentence in his final (?) post: i guess there *were* enough!
  4. according to my mostly incomplete stats at setlist.fm, i can now add Sleep, High On Fire and OM to the ten or more list.
  5. i bet Elastica's "Connection" was the first time a good chunk of people heard Wire's "Three Girl Rhumba"
  6. I dug Parquet Courts' set too, and both of Ryley Walker's sets were actually pretty incredible. William Tyler was a nice listen, too.
  7. Wipers Doom Town Youth Of America Over The Edge Image Of Man Follow Blind
  8. funny that your Blondie/white rapper post prompted both of us w/ the same post.
  9. a friend of mine likes to post A LICKY BOOM BOOM DOWN as Facebook comments every now and then. pretty much always cracks me up.
  10. i am looking forward to the 2017 lineup... tbh, i think that the 2015 one was the weakest of the four so far.
  11. i think i heard the Linda Ronstadt version before the EC version.
  12. i heard Robert Wyatt's version of "I'm Free" before Chic's.
  13. Calexico's cover of "Clothes Of Sand" before Nick Drake's.
  14. sorry, you are correct. I was thinking of the RHCP vesion of "Higher Ground." i first heard "Alone Again Or" via The Damned, not Love.
  15. Ultimate Painting were excellent last night. Their last show is at Bowery tonight, so any NYC-ers who dig the Velvets (think Rock and Roll instead of Black Angel Death Song) should definitely make the trip. so worth it.
  16. Carol of the Bells God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Greensleeves (What Child Is This) The Wassail Song Father Christmas
  17. i love this tune. it found its way on some mix tapes i made in the 90s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uKO8cvp_9I i heard RHCP do "Freddie's Dead" before Curtis Mayfield. what a travesty.
  18. Wire is one of the best bands. I think i heard Thelonious Monster's "For My Lover" before the Tracy Chapman version. also, Husker Du's version of "Sunshine Superman" before Donovan's.
  19. i had no idea that Coolio ripped "Gangsta's Paradise" from Stevie until a few years ago. Camper Van Beethoven's version of "I Love Her All The Time" before Sonic Youth's.
  20. there's also this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtkGjoRrc9o i can't recall, but i might have heard Sebadoh's cover of "Hammers and Sickles" before the Minutemen's.
