I don’t follow.  I didn’t get an email from them, but that might be because I cancelled earlier today.

    Edit:

What I said wasn’t conjecture.  It’s a fact that some ticket holders will 1. Not cancel and 2. Not attend.  Therefore, Hard Rock’s booking log (or whatever the hotel industry term is) will not be accurate since they are expecting people in that category to show up.  The cancellation deadline is a non-factor in the scenario I am describing.

But I am interested  in what Cloud 9 has to say that refutes any of those facts, if anyone would care to share it here.

i guess it wasn't in that email (or my searching skills are on the wane, or both), maybe it was a snippet that someone else had posted to the SBS group. but, it was to the point that they already comply with the % capacity rules set by Quintana Roo so any future cancellations or non-cancellations shouldn't affect that particular possible constraint.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this event is able to slide through any potential capacity restrictions just due to the number of guest cancellations.  This depends, though, on the number of people who officially cancel (those with “cancel for any reason“ insurance, or other insurable claims) and the number who simply do not show up and remain on the hotel’s booking log (people who don’t have insurable claims and therefore have no reason to notify the event that they aren’t coming).  If the event thinks more guests are coming than actually are, they might end up being forced to cancel even though the actual number of guests who do show up is within the allowable capacity.

seeing as though the cancelation deadline is (i think) 2 days before the festival starts, the email sent today by Cloud 9 would refute your conjecture.

Jeez, that’s crazy,  was that because of Delta?

Rumor now is the Dead is about to cancel their fest.  Announcement at 4:00.

yeah, Delta was a true disrupter. A good chunk was caused by overseas bands not being able to get visas into the country (in the end, only a UK band a Cz Republic band made it), and there were cancellations up until pretty much the last day or two before the event because of bands and/or crews getting sick.

I do give the promoters a lot of credit to keep it moving forward and booking alternatives wherever possible on extremely short notice, and in the end it was a great event (mostly indoors) and i didn't get COVID!

I’m looking for a deeply discounted Sky Blue Sky Mexico package. Wasn’t planning on going due to the cost and it being sold out! But if the price is right, I’m willing to make it work.

Hoping to pay no more than $2,500 total considering the last minute timing of this, but have some possible additional wiggle room. Shoot me a PM if you’re looking to unload a package, thanks!

gotta admire that it took since 2008 to make apost. ;)

    UPDATE FROM SKY BLUE SKY

Greetings from Cloud 9 Adventures and Wilco.

2022 is here. Sky Blue Sky kicks off in just over two weeks. So we thought it's a good time to check in with everyone and address a few questions that have been coming our way.

To start, be assured that Sky Blue Sky is still scheduled to go forward as originally planned, with all performances, artists and other activities currently intact.

For those of you who are reconsidering your decision to attend, note that although economic realities restrict us from offering full refunds–there are some options still available:

The event sold out quickly and Cloud 9 is ready to assist in arrangements for guests to transfer their reservation to another interested fan.  The usual administrative fee is being waived for those wishing to explore this option. The deadline for this service has been extended to January 17.

Those who chose to purchase Trip Insurance (or have such service automatically offered from your credit card provider) may contact the insurer with questions to see what protections may be in place.

Any guests with specific questions about their travel can contact one of our representatives.

Regarding the event itself, be assured that all possible health precautions are in place and have been effective in keeping similar events of this size safe so far this season. All music performances take place outdoors, multiple dining options will be available in the outdoor facilities and the few activities (e.g. check-in and registration) that require entering indoor spaces Hard Rock and event staff will be taking extra precautions.  Front-facing resort staff are close to fully vaccinated, staff are required to wear masks indoors and outdoors at all times, and negative tests are required of all attendees before entering the event.

You should contact your specific airline website for current rules and requirements for travel to and from Mexico.  You can also check the CDC website for general travel safety recommendations.

Looking forward to seeing you all and enjoying a wonderful week with Wilco and its fans on the beach.  Please do contact us if you have any concerns or questions.

A safe and happy new year wishes to all,

    Wilco and Cloud 9 Adventures

  6. i haven't catalogued all my purchases from this year but it's clear that i bought a lot of older and / or reissued records once again. for records that were first released in 2021, i would say that these are my favorites:

    Papir - Jams

Kungens Män - Innanför Boxen (box set of mostly archival stuff but does include 1 new LP)

Sunburned Hand Of The Man - Pick A Day To Die
    Trialogos - Stroh Zu Gold

    Hans Hjelm - Factory Reset

Mogwai - As The Love Continues

Mienakunaru - Lost Bones Of The Holy Butterfly

The Reds, Pinks & Purples* - Uncommon Weather

i guess i don't really like much american music these days!

  7. I guess they could do both.

Tim, how was TTB? And Dino/Lemonheads/Walker? My buddy and I were strongly considering the latter, but opted for Flaming Lips/Particle Kid at HOB a couple weeks ago instead. My long overdue first time seeing the Lips, and Wayne and Co. did not disappoint.

Also thinking about TTB for Friday or Saturday- if anyone has face value tix they can’t use, please DM me. 😁

there were some good seats that dropped for TTB for tonight, not sure if they are still around on Ticketmaster.

Dino/Lemonheads was solid. here are my reviews of both shows:

  9. i accidentally posted this to my photog account on facebook and figured i would cut and paste for this thread. this soup is amazingly good.

i roasted the thighs in the oven (@425 for about 45-50 min, turning every 10 min. there are two keys: make a 50/50 mix of fine salt and 5 spice powder, and rub on the chicken under the skin... to make the glaze, do this: add some smashed ginger (1", cut in slices) and garlic (4 cloves) to 1/3 cup of honey, 2 tbsp of soy and some 5 spice. bring that to a boil, let cool, and strain the solids. this is what you brush on the chicken every 10 min... at 20 min, flip the thighs and brush the undersides).
once the chicken is done, take the meat off the bones but save the bones and skin (making the chicken this way for the soup is kind of overkill and it's quite good on its own; for the soup you can grab a rotisserie chicken and use that if you'd like).

ok, now let's make the soup. soak 4-6 dried shiitake mushrooms in a cup of hot water. once soft, take out, slice in quarters and reserve the liquid. heat a 1 or 2 tbsp of sesame oil in a large pot with bruised tails of scallions (save the sliced tips for garnish) and ginger slices for a min or two under med heat. add in the mushroom water, 6 cups of chicken stock, a tbsp of maple syrup, 1/2 tsp of 5 spice, a cup of water and all the bones and skin from the thighs. bring to a boil and the simmer for ~30 min.

strain the broth into a clean pot and discard the solids. add in a cup of water if you think you need to, there is plenty of flavor so don't worry about dilution. add in the chopped chicken and stir.

get another pot of water boiling and cook some soba or udon noodles until soft, and drain.

split 2-3 baby bok choy (ends trimmed) lengthwise and slice into 1" pieces diagonally. add those to the soup and cook for a couple of minutes.
put some noodles in a bowl, top with soup and garnish with the sliced scallions and sprinkle some togarashi on top.
