  1. Wilco Albums best to worst: YHF ST BT AGIB SBS TWL AM W(TA) wilco albums favorite to least favorite: BT YHF AM AGIB TWL SBS ST W(TA)
  2. I've never seen Chelsea Walls, and after your post i will make a point of continuing to never see it for fear it would ruin a truly beautiful song. Satan, get thee hence!
  3. Anyway, I don't like Steely Dan. I can't get over the voice. The same way that many people dislike Neil Young, Bob Dylan, he Smiths/Morrissey, The Decemberists, etc. etc. I love all of those guys ('cept maube Smiths/Morrisey) but I can understand how the vocals would turn someone away. Steely Dan? Those vocals turn me away.
  4. There was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed by a dwarf!
  5. The Guthrie website link lists Nonesuch as the label. So that's old stuff. Plus, if they were recording something new, I'm sure we would have got wind of it by now.
  6. And is allying themselves with the Tea Party? Holy crap, it's a good day to be a tele player. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15268169
  7. How many times have you heard "Sexy Sadie?" "Long, Long, Long?" "She said she said?" "Don't Pass me By?" "Two of Us?" Countless times? Literally countless?
  8. You don't understande what this word means, do you?
  9. I must say I'm a sucker for looks and will deal with an uncomfortable or heavy guitar if she looks good enough.
  10. I thought of that scene too but couldn't remember enough of the dialogue. Top notch.
  11. Nigel: Just listen to that sustain. Shh. Do you hear it? Marty: No. Nigel: You would, though, if it were playing.
  12. Makes perfect sense, especially in light of the lyrics, but I had kind of ruled out Westerberg because I heard/read that "We've been had" was about Tweedy's disillusionment with Westerberg upon meeting him the first time.
  13. I personally have to wait until the infatuation goes away to see if there's enough substance remaining to establish a lasting relationship. There may well be, but it's simply to early to tell if I will want to make a long term commitment to this record.
  14. All this talk of lovin' reminded me of the most positive energy thread i've ever seen on this forum so i thought i'd bump it.
  15. Actually, if I'm to be totally honest, I think that, if I try to look at it objectively, YHF is their only masterpiece. It's the one people will talk about in 100 years, so to speak. I just happen to love BT more.
  16. Yup. I think many people (myself included) are going to have to start showing a lot more love for this guy.
  17. If I were into revisionism I would think that you had hit on a fine idea indeed.
  18. I hear you about it being uneven, especially in the 2nd half, but somehow even the uberpretentious drone is balanced out by the uberbanal German puns in I'm a Wheel. It's all about context, i guess.
  19. fixed it for you. I personally love both of those songs. Does anyone know who "The Lonely 1" was written about? edit to add: thanks for bringing it back on topic.
  20. the only thing i know about this band is that i happened across their tiny desk concerty on youtube and it was AWFUL.
  21. I was (mostly) joking. I live on the other side of the big water. $2500. This is not my youtuibe video but it's the same model: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtZq5iQG68E. There are a couple of minor issues with it. PM me if you are interested. edit to add: just noticed that there is an additional switch next to the pickup selector on the guitar in the vid that my guitar does not have.
  22. Jeff said himself in Ashes that the band could withstand another lineup change as long as its not John. so John is essential. Personally i believe that Glenn is too.
  23. I remember hearing a story about Wilco touring AM and Tony Margherita puts in Trace and says something like "Should we listen to what Jay's been up to?" and they ended up throwing the disc out the window, depressed about how much better Son Volt's record was. Can't say anything about the veracity or even the source of this anecdote, but it did stick in my head.
