Yeah, except both those other two men were recording, and had defined their sound, before Gram Parsons had (Buck Owens was recording in the early 1960s, and kind of at his peak by the mid-1960s). Seeing as how you just said they are of the era of country/rock and I have just pointed out that they were making their music before Gram Parsons, how does that influence your view on Parsons?

You never fail to disappoint, do you?!
-
Well I knew you'd not be able to write a better review (although I didn't want to name and shame you), but I had no idea you only had 4 cd's. I'd have put you down for a 20-30 cds man myself.

I'd imagine that 100% of people on here have heard of Neil Young, Roy Orbinson & Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Brothers - so I'm not sure where you get the fact that he knows more about music from? I'd also bet that most, if not all, of them could write a more insightful review than that bloke did.

Those are the notes to Darryl Sterdan's review, I assume, where's his actual finished piece? If you're going to use that to back you up, you might want to edit the bit about Adams singing like Roy Orbison & Neil Young, which is obviously not possible when he sounds like Gram Parsons all the time. Personally, I wouldn't use it at all though.

what about cake?

George Jones? (and that would be pre-dating Gram, so maybe you could ignore that for the purposes of your point)

I'm Not There - Soundtrack Revealed?
Synthesizer Patel replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
i've got a feeling the soundtrack will be a let-down, but the film fills me with a lot of hope. it's a shame it's not wilco rather than just jeff tweedy, as that would mean it'd be a bit more interesting musically, but never mind - i think it'll be john wesley harding too. -
Do double albums count as 2 cds?
-
so you've only heard the new album?
-
what's this bit about him/her being someone else? that sounds interesting, even if his/her views aren't.
-
Shame about his death.
-
can someone give me a brief refresher on what is going on here? i haven't the energy to read through everything, but i want to join in cos it looks interesting.
-
That's a shame. I actually thought he'd already died from cancer, I knew he was sick, anyway. Maybe they'll re-release/remaster Cowboy In Sweden, and a make a dvd of the tv show, now. I can't belive pitchfork didn't put this youtube clip in the article! Let's Take A Walk Down Valhallav

My favourite album of theirs is Goo, so I'd say start there, but it depends if you're bothered about listening in chronological order or not.
-
I think I'm going to have to fork out for the new edition of this. I haven't got the remastered one from a few years back, so I'm glad I waited - trouble is that I think I'm going to have to replace all of the first 4 albums really just because the sound quality is incredible on these new versions from what I've heard (like the Richard & Linda Thompson, Fotheringay and Sandy Denny albums - that 'dead' drum sound and acoustic guitar that all these albums seem to have, sounds brilliant with mordern mastering techniques)
-
I think you might be right! In general, I'd say I prefer old singer songwriters to old bands, although I actually prefer new bands to new singer songwriters.

5 albums I enjoy listening to a lot at the moment

Paper Planes is brilliant. I'm not sure how much I like the rest of it yet - it can be a little one note at times.
-
m.i.a - kala (i predict, paper planes - if it's allowed to be a single - will be massive)
