  1. 1. Hmmm. I know you won't mention my college (considering where you went to undergrad) but "Box Full Of Letters" was in pretty heavy rotation on WDBM in the mid 90's and I'm sure got tons of play on "Progressive Torch and Twang". That's where I got into Wilco. 2. First show. The now defunct Michigan Festival in August of 1997. I think after that, I pretty much bought all their stuff.
  2. "9 Crimes" by Damien Rice "Pictures of You" by the Cure
  3. I always liked Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson doing "Candy".
  4. Ahh memories. There are some great videos here. My favorite from the '90's "California" by Wax. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPT7q825gwI
  5. Goodbye Babylon - The Black Keys Down By The River - Neil Young Fifteen Keys - Uncle Tupelo Subbacultcha - Pixies Timebomb - Old 97's Oscillate Widly - The Smiths First Breath After Coma - Explosions In The Sky California Zephyr - Ben Gibbard, Jay Farrar My City Was Gone - The Pretenders Vamos - Pixies

  8. I'll probably get crushed for both of these but: Pavement Old 97's
  9. Wings win their 7th straight. They are now very scary.
  10. It was on stage in East Lansing. I pointed it out to my girlfriend. We were about 12 rows from the front and she said "what the hell is that? a Hello Kitty or something?" I had to Google Maneki Neko to see what you were talking about...... but yes, it's been around.
  11. Crawler - The Wharton Center is pretty much smack dab in the middle of campus. PM me and I'll give you some suggestions on where to grab something to eat/drink before the show.
  12. "Pictures of You" - The Cure "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" - Gordon Lightfoot
  13. The first one that comes to mind is The Smiths - "Rank". Although, it's a live album so I'm not sure if it should count. Live albums seem to be hit or miss. This is tough because I think there are a number of bands/artists that just don't make good records anymore (U2, R.E.M). I'm trying to think of bands who have an album that's a clunker and the clunker is the anomale.
  14. I thought of a couple more... Creedence Clearwater Revival - Couldn't stand them when I was younger. Fogarty's voice was like nails on a chalkboard. Now, they are one of my favorites. I love them. Bob Seger - Growing up in Michigan, Bob Seger was pretty much rammed down the throat of every FM radio listner in the late '70's - mid '80's. I just couldn't stand him. Now, I have a wonderful appreciation of his ability to paint a picture with lyrics.
  15. Exactly. It's my favorite Stones tune too.
  16. Yes, I did mean easy rockers (I got the wink) but saying that the Foo Fighters write easy rockers isn't doing them justice. So, I took a liberty. Night Flight was on USA if I remember correctly. But it's amazing, in the early/mid 80's we'd do whatever we could to watch videos. Our local cable didn't have MTV at first so there was Friday Night Videos on NBC, Night Flight on USA, and for those kids lucky enough to have HBO, they had a 1/2 hour show called Video Jukebox. I remember seeing a Split Enz video where a dude was beheaded and it was like nothing I'd ever seen or heard at the t
  17. Not from me. I love the Foo Fighters. Always have. Catchy rockers are fun. Remember Jay Bennett?
  18. I got to thinking about the "blasphemy" and what "single artist would you eliminate threads" and was wondering......What would be an example of an artist(s) that I didn't like, or was at least ambivalent about but now I really dig them? There are countless threads discussing how some music/artists have held up well and others, not so much. I know there are bands out there that I used to like but now can't stand. But what about the opposite? I'll add the caveat that maybe you think a band's current releases suck (say R.E.M.) but perhaps you didn't think much of them in 1987 and now you love
  19. I haven't heard it. But, the track list surprises me a great deal. I'll check it out.
  20. Todd - I thought Pyromania was great too. In 1983, when I was 12. But now, I think the only Def Leppard song I might be able to stomach is 'Too Late For Love'. This is what makes music great. It is all about what YOU like.
  21. I could easily say anything "New Country". Tim McGraw, Rascall Flatts, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks. Toss the whole lot of 'em. But that's like picking on people who are mentally challanged and physically disabled. It's too easy. Therefore, my vote goes to Def Leppard (speaking of physically disabled with their one armed drummer). I'd like to pour so much sugar on them that they suffocate.
