How much is too much for Neil Young tickets?
Analogman replied to AJ673's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think there is some discussion of ticket prices in this recent Neil Young thread. I figure at the end of the day, you either pay the price and go, or not. What choice is there? Although, I have noticed some articles up at various places lately that talk about how major artists are having trouble selling tickets, and actually cutting their prices, or offering two for one deals. -
It's hard to believe there was a time when they had an opening band. But - of course they did. I think slick is a good word to use. I like Moving Pictures ok, but the sound is so sterile. I've said this before - but I have an original pressing of All The World's A Stage. That is really a nice package - with all the photos. Also - the very first Rush album I ever owned was the first one on cassette. On the tape I have, the end of Working Man cuts off, and for years I thought that was how the song ended.

From what I have read, Neil sends lyrics to Geddy and Alex, and then they write the music. Neil lives a very separate life from them - so maybe that has something to do with it.

How do you buy music? (isues, quality, quantity)

Collectible vinyl business has seen record sales due to the recession I have that Who record pictured on the left. -
They sort of lost me with all the keyboards and synthesizers. I know they let that go of that some point. I just don't feel the need to buy everything a band puts out anymore. I wonder if they will end up using backing tapes this time around. All the Moving Pictures tracks have something going on - outside of guitar/bass/drums. I know in the past that Geddy did the keyboards live, and/or used foot pedals while playing bass. It seems like a lot for him to do. Maybe they will go really old school, and have a keyboard player hidden behind some scenery. I suppose when I think of Rush, I t

It seems to me that it falls apart a few times.

I usually always check out their new albums, but the last one I bought was Exit Stage Left.
-
I think I saw a Youtube link the other day - but they has been removed by the time I clicked on them.

Maybe we can meet up again when I am up there this time. I have not heard the new songs yet. I still refuse to pay for Mp3s. I am sure they are out there floating around.

We are going to be on the right - toward the middle, I think.

The show is at the Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs.
-
That is the part I like - The Fountain of Lamneth.
-
I think for me it is that one, the first one, A Farewell To Kings, and All the World's a Stage.
-
I think it is one of their best.

New York I'd much rather see a Caress of Steel or A Farewell to Kings tour, but I don't think the masses would go for that sort of deal. I take it they are playing Moving Pictures as it is there most well known album, and will attract people who are not Rush freaks.

A recent show popped up on Dime a Dozen last night. He is already doing a lot of the new songs.

I have read that Elton has had money problems for years. He spends more than he earns. There is also some speculation that he will donate the 1 million dollar fee to some sort of charity. He has done such things before - singing with Axl Rose, and Eminem are two instances that come to mind. A lot of these bands are probably being advised to not play there due to safety concerns. -
Me too- After listening to the band since the late 70s, I am finally going to see them in July. Neil has been writing some very nice essays and posting them on his website as of late.

Montclair, April 3 (Night 2) -- Does recording exist?
Analogman replied to siegs39's topic in After The Show
I did a quick count on our Wilco Live Show Archive spreadsheet the other day, and that is what I came up with. It could be that I did not count the Jeff solo shows, but since most of those were benefit shows, I doubt we will see a tape from those shows anyhow. -
I think there are several sources for that show up at bt.etree.org. There are well over 400 Jerry shows there. I doubt all of them are being seeded, but they are listed there. I have never really heard any of his solo stuff - except for the Legion of Mary show I have.

I think there are around 29 shows from the past tour that have yet to appear.
