Rolling Stones to reissue Get Your Ya Ya's Out
Analogman replied to Col. Hapablap's topic in Someone Else's Song
They did a great version of Wild Horses. Supposedly, Gram was the main motivator behind the Stones doing country music. Or so Keith says. -
Rolling Stones to reissue Get Your Ya Ya's Out
Analogman replied to Col. Hapablap's topic in Someone Else's Song
He must have got a time machine. I am generally not a fan of parts being added to songs (long) after the song was made. I think Gram only played music with Keith. But then again, I have heard rumors that he is actually on some Stones songs. Of course, a lot of work for Exile was done in L.A. I use to think it was all recorded live in the basement of Keith's house, but that is not true. -

It is a bit nuts, that is for sure.

A tale of the cursed cd. I got that cd from the place you suggested. It turned out to be the one I already had. They had the wrong photos with the right description - or something like that. Time passed. I sent it back. Some more time passed. They sent me another one. It turned out to be the same one I already had (again). I gave it away - instead of messing with it anymore. I found one on Amazon again - for 70 bucks. I decided that was too much. I found one one Ebay - starting bid 5 bucks. I put down 20 bucks. Time passed. I got outbid by 50 cents. I found an

Why Doesn't Anyone Listen to the Kinks?

I saw that the other day. I forgot to post the news. -
He put a covers album over his former bandmates? (Big surprise - another old guy making a covers album). Genesis Says Peter Gabriel Missing Rock Hall Induction Is No 'Snub'

I think I recall in the liner notes of one of the re-masters that they were not to fond of editing tracks for radio. If there was ever such a thing as an album band, they are at the top of the list. Although the first two albums, Yes, and A Time and A Word are a different trip all together. Yes singles

No worse than playing casinos, I guess. Blondie once played at a dog track up the road from where I live. I think I read some comments at Dime a Dozen that suggested they are mixing the setlist up somewhat. I would go if I had the chance. Although, it would be weird to hear someone who sounds like Jon, but is in fact, not him. There are videos of Benoit David up at Youtube that you can check out. The dude does a great job, I will say that much. Did Yes ever have any hits besides Roundabout? I mean the old Yes, not the Owner of a Lonely Heart version of Yes.

Kinks with a twist: Davies records tunes with Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi -
They should have got someone from their time, or Jack White. He wrote some liner notes for one of the Stooges re-masters a couple of years ago.

The Bee Gees had moved on to a new musical direction before Saturday Night Fever came along. I can't see ABBA having anything to do with their music. I could be wrong, as I don't really know a whole lot about either band. I just like The Bee Gees 1967-1971 output.
-
The thing is, The Bee Gees are really a 60s band. I know the popularity of their 70s work has overshadowed that to a large extent.
-
I don't like ABBA at all, but that also seems like a weird combination.

Trey Anastasio to Induct Genesis into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

I suppose they decided to make money, instead of spending it on lawsuits.
-
I guess he does count his solo albums as separate. Maybe it is due to the fact that Mike Campbell was the only member of the band to play on Highway Companion.
-
I've never seen him, but he tours regularly, so I figure he has the chops. I believe CSN is coming out with one of those dreadful cover albums, so I suppose they will be promoting that.
-
I was thinking of that also, but eight is the number they are using in the press release: Also, the Mudcrutch album (Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell were on that album of course).
-
I suppose there are not too many bands that can go eight years between albums these days.
-
I figured they would not tour without a new album coming out. Take a listen to “Good Enough” from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ forthcoming new album, Mojo.
