	I hope they don't go the Styx/Journey/Boston/Judas Priest/Yes route.

The latest Ryan Adams threadAnalogman replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song I would bet that it his name on the contract only - the guys in the band are just hired hands. I am actually surprised he has not replaced them yet - if one looks at his track record with regards to the people he has had playing with him. As I recall, people were not that crazy about Easy Tiger (much like Sky Blue Sky). It will be interesting to see how the new one goes over.

The latest Ryan Adams threadAnalogman replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song I figure the record company had something to do with that decision. It's his name that people are going to be looking for - at least those who are not already fans.

You can delete it yourself - bottom left right corner. Sorry - I have a hard time going to the right.

I believe they are planning to do a record number of episodes this year.

Brand Spanking New Election ThreadAnalogman replied to mountain bed's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning Maybe it depends on where one lives - as I live in a college town, I see cars with bumper stickers all the time.

Brand Spanking New Election ThreadAnalogman replied to mountain bed's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning I still see Kerry stickers on cars around here - lately, I have noticed more Obama stickers. A couple of Sundays ago, I was walling back from downtown and cut through a church parking lot - I saw a lot of McCain bumper stickers, as well as, a few bumper stickers featuring some deal about Obama being a Muslim.

Bass solos Which reminds me - for those who have not seen Cliff 'Em All - you should.

Brand Spanking New Election ThreadAnalogman replied to mountain bed's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning And the NRA vote. . . This morning, I overheard some folks being interviewed on NPR about who they will vote for in the election. Most of the responses had to do with McCain being a patriotic American, the issue of religion, and the old "he won't take my guns away" deal.

Oh, it's an ongoing quest. The Addendum does not even really appear anywhere - it goes for 400-500 bucks as far as I can tell. That is sort of my dream, to find II, III, and the Addendum somewhere for a good price. There was a copy of the second one for about 40 bucks on Amazon, but someone snagged it before I could order it.

I also think they will never top Master of Puppets - that is quite a feat - going from Kill Em All to that, if you think about it. I think they are this generation's AC/DC, that is, regardless of the albums they put out, they will always sell a lot of albums, and do big business on the road. Other than Iron Maiden, I can't readily think of another band from around that time that remains so popular. I think most of the bands from that era, if they are still together, are playing in sports bars, and do summer shed tours. They may do well, but are not exactly critically exclaimed.

I think Cliff was probably the best musician in the band. Lars drumming is not that great, really. I think the band's strength is in riffs/rhythms, not leads.

Yes, I think listening to music on a telephone might not be a good way to measure the sound quality. That still seems odd to me - I know, I am old.

The Deadhead's Taping Compendium, Volume 1: An In-Depth Guide to the Music of the Grateful Dead on Tape, 1959-1974 I finally ordered it last night - I got it for $17.40.

That I don't know - but you are right, it will be, or probably is already is out there. There is also a vinyl version of the release.
