  1. I rather liked And Justice For All - too bad the mix is so screwy. That was the last one I bought.
  2. I sometimes call it - Blues Power Rock. Yes, so called nu-metal is crap. Although, there are several million people that would disagree with that statement, of course.
  3. Well - I sometimes think one needs to know the work of: Aldous Huxley,William Blake, Charles Baudelaire, Arthur Rimbaud, Jack Kerouac, Friedrich Nietzsche, Antonin Artaud, Louis-Ferdinand C
  4. Oh, I am just throwing something positive out there - I have listened to and enjoyed their music since I was 14 years old - I don't hate them. If most people here do, than that is just the way it is.
  5. I have often read that Jimmy Page hates the fact that they are associated with Heavy Metal. If we are talking musicianship, then it could be that Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple (I mean the Glover/Gillian/Lord/Paice/Blackmore version) are better, but power wise, Black Sabbath beats them all. Do you think someone could get the guitar sound Tony created on Volume 4 today? I think not.
  6. What's funny though - is a lot of bands have named them as an influence: MC5, Richard Ashcroft, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Echo & The Bunnymen, Jane's Addiction. The Teardrop Explodes, Billy Idol, Nick Cave, Blue Oyster Cult, Jesus And Mary Chain, The Birthday Party, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Psychedelic Furs, and X.
  7. They are actually still at it (as you probably know) - they had that dude from The Cult , now they have some guy from a band called Fuel (I think). I think it is pathetic - but, they continue to sell out shows wherever they play - and the band does big business from merchandise/royalties/music sales, etc. - so I have read. The Doors catalog has now been re-issued at least 4 times - so although the majority of people here may view them as crap, they still have quite a following.
  8. Gene and Michael are deceased - as well as, several of the other Byrds - what you saw was probably Roger playing Byrd songs with a backing band. Was it one of those Stars of the 60s shows?
  9. There is a site out there somewhere - probably mentioned the last time we had this thread - which broke all of this into all sorts of different categories: blues rock, power metal, speed metal, NWOBHW, death metal, hair metal, etc. Personally, I would much rather listen to Saw Wings of Destiny, than say albums such as Screaming for Vengeance. NWOBHM
  10. I don't see Black Sabbath as a metal band - or Motorhead, for that matter. I suppose it depends on who you ask, what book you look at, what year is, what you definition is, etc. I will be surprised if this thread does not turn into a thread full of posts dismissing such music as crap and/or statements referring to Guns N Roses being the best metal band. (They were not a metal band.)
  11. Humble Pie - C'Mon Everybody - Rainbow Theater, London - 1974 Humble Pie - Black Coffee - Old Grey Whistle Test - March 20th, 1973 Humble Pie - Thirty Days In The Hole - 1971 Humble Pie - For Your Love - 1970 Alice Cooper - Elected - 1973 Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen>American Pie - 1972 Alice Cooper - Under My Wheels - 1971
  12. Another connection: Bryan MacLean, who was a roadie for The Byrds, went on to join Love. Also, several of the bands just mentioned above, came out of The Sunset Strip scene. They are just mentioned so people can say how much they hate them - like Ryan Adams and Phish.
  13. Wilcobase is your friend. We have the show at the archive, but not yet up for download.
  14. Carry on my thread starting son, people will post in your thread when I am done.
  15. Dude - If you had seen these threads as many times as I have since August 2002, you would probably feel the same way. Now - you should notice that I have not linked to the two Kinks threads I found from not to long ago - you do what you want - I was just saying that some of this stuff goes round and round.
  16. I think we have all the living shows that are available - still waiting on one from last year - I think. If I recall - the first year was not taped. We don't have a venue column on our show list - sometimes, I think maybe I should have made one. We have a date/city column for all of the shows though. The shows are by listed by date on the Wilco Archive main page. Also - all of the living room shows are not in Wilcobase.
  17. Someone should start a new thread about The Band - this place is like Groundhog Day.
  18. It's odd that I did - as I was actually working on files for The Wilco Archive at the time. Speaking of commercials - what's the deal with this show- Swingtown? Seems like CBS is trying to one up Desperate Housewives -
  19. The woman was his babysitter when he was a kid.
  20. Dealing with several Angelas is no fun.
  21. Looks like someone needs to take a look at the famous WV's website -
