The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
Analogman replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
Listen to the new Jayhawks single Quiet Corners and Empty Spaces (by way of The Wall Street Journal). -
I figured.
-
I don't see anything great about that.
-
Oh - check out some Fairport Convention before you toss him to the side.
-
No excuses - just tell them. And then get me an autographed cd.
-
If you go, tell them Amazon is making me wait a month to get the new cd.

Long Ryders are back (for a while)
Analogman replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Someone Else's Song
That's right. I think I heard that by way of BBC online or Youtube. I've probably read more about Paisley Underground/Alt-country (pre-Uncle Tupelo)/Cowpunk than listened to it. The mid-1980s were the all metal (mostly) years for me. -

Archie Bell and The Drells (1968)

I thought that one I mentioned was called The Spanish Jam until just now.
-
I call it the Pretty Cool, Dude or Nice Story, Bro Jam.
-
And whatever that Jam is from 10/31/1971 after Dark Star. . .

I read yesterday that Metallica is starting a re-issue campaign. So far all I saw listed was 150 dollar boxsets. I will be interested if they end up doing a 2 disc deal. And the sound is not brickwalled. All my Metallica is original vinyl pressings, or original cassettes. I think the only Metallica I have on cd is that 2 disc Garage Days release from many years ago. While we are it - is any of you live in a city where the Twisted Sister documentary is playing and happen to see it - I would love to hear about it. 2/18/2016 Metal: Iron Maiden Unveils Its Awesome Boeing 747 For 'Boo

I've never read the books. That first film is a masterpiece directed by Peter Bogdanovich. The other one is not a masterpiece. But - also directed by Peter Bogdanovich.
-
If you want to watch it - there is a sequel - Texasville (1990).

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Analogman replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I don' think I knew that Bruce was writing a book - if I did, I must have forgot about it: -
I only have Mp3 files. It was actually the last thing I acquired. I stopped acquiring things that way after I acquired those files. About six years ago.
-
The only one of those I acquired was the Fillmore West 1969 boxset. I believe people also ask hundreds of dollars for that boxset.
-
I figure that is what we are going for when we buy such releases. The work of Jeffrey Norman and the artwork. I think the last GD live album I bought was that 4/18/1970 show.
-
You can find hundreds of GD soundboard tapes up at bt.etree.org.

I wonder if the Lone Gunmen will be in one of these new episodes? I recall watching their short-lived show.
