  1. How? We definitely need the new record, or at least some news about it, if the top thread is discussing Wilco's appearance in a crossword puzzle.
  2. Just wondering what live versions with the current lineup you guys like best Here are some for me: IATTBYH: Ashes version is great, I love the version from the London show that the band released, but the sound quality is stellar on the Ashes version Ashes of American flags: Kicking Television version still does it for me Poor Places: Also Kicking Television
  3. I wouldn't trust descriptions on an article... they rarely describe songs with much accuracy. I think the record sounds promising, but I will make the judgement when I actually hear it. As far as "Open your Mind," we have only heard that song in an acoustic setting, where those slower songs are perfect. We haven't heard any instrumentation or anything. Whether it sounds like Peter, Paul, and Mary.. well that is your opinion, but it doesn't sound far removed from some of the beloved songs in Wilco's catalogue. Also, Jeff doesn't really describe the new single as a mid tempo song about falling
  4. I just can't believe what I am seeing... I mean calling Jeff deluded, and making statements like "If you want to like an album that sucks, go ahead." First of al, OF COURSE Jeff is not saying that WTA will be as good as YHF in ten years or so... he is making a general (and powerful) statement about the perception of records over time. Leave it to some of you, who wouldn't be satisfied with anything this band will ever create in the future, to assume he is making that statement about WTA. If you don't like the new music and are "annoyed" by statements made about a record you haven't even heard,
  5. Is there a notable difference in sound between the two? Just curious as to what the sweetening did
  6. Is this the same recording posted in the other thread, or did you record it yourself?
  7. Thanks so much! And let us know if you re-record it!
  8. It is one of the few great cities left. You obviously just went to Bourbon Street. Get your facts right before you insult my home.
  9. I second the statement about capturing these shows. If someone can capture them, that would be amazing! Also, with quicktime, how do I separate the file into tracks?
  10. Yes actually, the My Morning Jacket blog entitled "Steam Engine" recently posted an mp3
  11. I noticed today that there is a Madison show in the IPhone Wilco app version of the roadcase that does not seem to appear on the actual website..Can this show be accessed on the actual website? I would love to hear Broken Arrow whenever I want. And If so, has someone recorded it?
  12. Yeah I was just asking if anyone split it, bc I like this recording
  13. How can you say they aren't good when they are they are so consistently one of (if not the most) formidable live acts in rock music..You can say what you want about their latest work in the studio, but the fact remains that they continue to become better and better live...and besides, when you say they aren't relevant..relevant to whom? And if you are referring to the studio work, the fact that they did release albums such as YHF and AGIB makes them very relevant..they can't constantly be banging those kinds of records out..and who are you referring to that this relevance is judged by anyway?
  14. For me, this song got even better live, and as the years have gone by in the live setting, the song has transformed into something more and more awesome. After getting used to hearing the KT version, i was amazed by the Ashes version, and after hearing that one, I was even more amazed by the latest renditions that are drenched in noise (Free download Haiti shows, particularly the version on the London show.) This song just keeps getting more awesome, What are your thoughts on this?
  15. Still loving this show..I am no expert on sound quality or anything, and was curious about something: As far as sound quality goes, how does this recording compare to the two shows the band released to benefit Haiti? Those shows are indeed louder but the mix seems a little flatter than this Boston show..Jeff's vocals stand out more on those two shows, but it sounds flatter like the rest of the mix, whereas the Boston show seems to have a fuller, more expansive live sound..is this correct?
  16. Agreed. The sound is amazing, and it captures Jeff's vocals in a nicer way than the two shows the band released (I love those shows, but the mix doesn't capture the "prettiness" of his voice")
  17. One Wing Country Disappeared (an intimate soundcheck performance) Hell is Chrome Pot Kettle Black Radio Cure Poor Places
  18. Just saying again, this is an awesome recording! It sounds amazing in the car, and I think Jeff's vocals may sound better here than on the two shows that the band released online!
  19. In the very latest renditions of IATTBYH (Boston show) Glen does a new sounding, more rocking drum beat into the piano chimes, before Jeff starts strumming
