  1. I love SBS, but TWL is a more interesting album from top to bottom. SBS lags a little on the back half.
  2. I got to meet Sarah C in line before the gates opened. I am happy to say she did get her front row spot, directly in front of Jeff. You can thank her for Magazine Called Sunset making the set list as well. I was glad to meet her. She was super nice!
  3. Saw this on twitter this morning... http://stereogum.com...10/top-stories/
  4. I've seen a few shows at Sloss. It is definitely GA. Get there early though. The acoustics are terrible if you are standing towards the back.
  5. For reals? We could earn a spot on your blog...like for reals? I was at the Ryman night one and it blew me away. Except they didn't play via Chicago. I can live with that.
  6. http://austincitylimits.org/ Taping is scheduled for November 30
  7. Great! Now I can't wait to get home to check my mail.
  8. I agree. I was hesitant after i listed The Band, but i decided to throw caution to the wind...
  9. I ask this because I have heard them played twice lately on the Jam On station on Sirius XM. I admit I do love to hear the intricate instrumentals they create, but a jam band? When I hear jam band, I think the likes of Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, The Band, Allman Brothers. I hesitate to put Wilco in that same category.
  10. I really like the daytrotter sessions that I have heard. I'm glad they're doing this. I wish the could do another Austin City Limits too
  11. I've listened a few times now and it seems that i like the album more with subsequent listens (much like I Might). I loved Art of Almost (great show opener IMO), Dawned on Me, Rising Red Lung, Black Moon, and Born Alone. There aren't really any songs I just didn't care for except maybe Sunloathe (the jury is still out). I think that lyrically TWL is fairly abstract, but I need to go back and really focus on the words to be sure. Overall, very solid record I think. I can't wait to see Tweedy and Co. step out on the stage at the Ryman in Oct!

    pics or it didn't happen
  13. typos fixed... lack of faith that anyone besides fans hang out on message boards
  14. I really don't care for sing alongs. I go to watch shows, not participate. But of course, I'm highly introverted...
  15. I don't know that you CAN say the band IS embarassed by any song. You would have to be a real insider to know that, and I have my doubts that this board has any real insiders.
  16. Wow...this thread is in need of a major chill. Let's all knock back a few Klonopins and listen to the drone of Less Than You Think
  17. I have a friend who had gotten into them before me. We usually have pretty much the same musical tastes and I trust his judgement. It just happened to be as SBS was being released. I think I got a hold of a leaked copy first then bought it later... I do remember hearing some of the songs in VW commercials though
  18. There seems to be a lot of SBS hate on the board, but I wanted to express my gratitude for it. It's the first Wilco album I heard. While I do agree it is not the best or most interesting by any means, it peaked my interest enough to get me to dig deeper into the catalog. I still listen to it a good bit, and some of those songs are phenomenal to see live (Side with the Seeds, Hate It Here, Impossible Germany). I know it's not their best but it was my first and you never forget your first.
  19. An opening act I really want to see right now is The Head and the Heart. They have been opening for the Decemberists and I think some for Death Cab.
  20. It doesn't have to leak. I personally would be happy with a stream. Possibly even a 20-30 min featurette/documentary video on the making of the album. The Almost video was a real tease...
  21. Have we all forgotten The Wilco Book album? My last place is reserved for that one...
  22. Must be tough to be the son of the most prolific songwriter in recent memory... Son Rock. I like it!
