Why do I keep wanting to sing "Nothing Compares 2 U"? Seriously, tho, I'm looking at the pictures and what I'm really amazed at is that she still appears to be posing for these pictures! Check out the framing...this photographer wasn't just following around a loony with a camera. These shots look set up. I don't want to make light of the situation if she really is so far gone, but part of me is smelling publicity stunt. Just sayin...

This song has grown on me some, but I'm not a believer yet until I hear what happens in the studio. When I first heard the song, I heard the chorus as: "When I'm w@nking off/I'm gonna shake it off" Somebody told me he is saying "waking up", but I remain unconvinced...

See, this is the great thing about baseball. I love all the analysis of a mysterious pitch that may or may not exist. It might be merely a fastball...or a slider......or it might just blow your puny little mind into smithereens.

Get "Separation Sunday". Oddly enough, I had that one first and was only sorta into it. Then I heard "Boys and Gilrs" and liked it, so I went back to the other record and it finally clicked for me and I became obsessed. Personally, I think it kicks the newer record's butt.

The Onion is the only source I trust anymore.

I'm mostly pleased with the O's offseason moves. I predict you'll see a fair bit of growth this season that takes them from being a lowly 4th in the AL East to being a slightly-stronger 4th in the AL East.

Well, that doesn't seem to be working, either. Maybe some Black Flag or something. Winning the "Most polite atmosphere in the NHL" award might be great for bringing the kiddies, but this team/crowd needs to grow some teeth.

Mean, but nicely played nonetheless. As for the above comments, I have to believe that at a lot of that is pretty exaggerated. Er, well, some of it, anyway. Maybe a few grains of truth in there. Uhhh, what was the question again?

Holy cow, while you're at it, why not take the plunge on the 1TB model for $399.99? I need to stop looking now or else I am going to be very broke soon.

This is the first I've heard of album base...how does that work?? Do people upload stuff similar to a sendspace kind of thing? I'm not sure this is any more secure since anyone who goes to that site can see that it is obviously dedicated to distributing illegal music files...I wonder how hard it would be to make them turn over a user list, since you have to register for the site. Interesting...

Umm, this links to an article about fish. That other drive looks mighty nice. Might have to get me one of them...

I doubt they put that much effort into it. There's a "presumed guilty" vibe to this stuff.

And a collective cheer goes out from the Purdue students to whomever passed the bong to the person in charge of enforcing this.

I dunno, probably the same way Johnny Cash ended up singing Nine Inch Nails songs. I'm pretty sure there was a manager/producer somewhere who said "Hey, here's an idea. There are some younger musicians who I bet would like a shot at recording something with you if you're interested..."

New hats for the beisbol players

I'll reserve judgment until I can be relatively sure that OSU's current crop of 18 yr olds aren't on the take. Generally, when either of these schools does anything noteworthy on the basketball court, sanctions usually follow shortly thereafter. Is it football season yet? -
I haven't been to a Blue Jackets game yet since I've been back in town, but I was there during their first season in the league and I had a diagnosis then of why they couldn't win: They have a nice arena and frequent sellout crowds, but you simply cannot fire up a hockey team and a crowd by playing Faith Hill over the PA system during breaks in the action. Hockey simply doesn't work that way. Unless they have corrected this, I will continue to point to this as Exhibit A for why this team can't win.

Actually, Columbus seems to be doing ok with its NHL and MLS teams--arguably better than in some other cities where those teams would get overlooked. Here, they're the only major-league games in town and they draw fans. (as noted, winning is a whole other issue) College athletics are obviously still boss in this town, but there's definitely a market for pro sports. Oh, and Wheelco, good to be back. I started work here in Jan, but we are still in that transition phase where I'm doing a lot of back and forth trips to CT. Can't wait to finally be settled. But yeah, good to be back.

I've always been a big fan of Olie the Goalie, but yeah, I hope he can keep going and this team can pull it together for a playoff run in the near future. It has definitely been too long. And I'm curious to see if a winning team can draw some fans back. Washington is very much a fair-weather hockey town...it would be nice to see them get some more consistent crowd support. Along similar lines, I just recently moved back to Columbus and am happy to see that the team here still draws crowds now even after the novelty of a new team has worn off, but I really hope this team can start winnin

New hats for the beisbol players
quarter23cd replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I had a plastic Yankees one that I won playing a game at some amusement park in the early-80s. I hate the frigging Yankees, but I think I still have the helmet. We should bring back the trend! -
New hats for the beisbol players

Yeah, but so far that fashion statement hasn't caught on yet among the general public. -
Hockey has been painful for me to watch for several years now. The Caps are my primary team--some potentially great young talent, still not yet translating to points in the standings tho. And Columbus is my adopted hometown and, well, not much you can say about the BJs. I mean, hey, I'm pretty psyched about that overtime-loss last night. Woo! Way to postpone the loss until after regulation! Woooooooooo!!! Baby steps.

They could have saved a lot of trouble and just made this the first (and only) sentence of the story. I guess I won't really have an opinion on this until I see the new hats. Wool gets frigging hot, so I'd imagine from a player's perspective this will be nice. I dunno how the pros feel about sweat-rings, but back in the day (high school) we used to brag about em. Seriously, the guy with the smelliest hat at the end of the season was like a god. -
I've not been following this. Is cutting one's hair a sign of impending self-destruction? I suppose maybe it is when you're a celebrity who's public persona is based on maintaining a certain appearance and image. I dunno. She's def got some problems, but this whole bit about the hair seems blown a bit out of proportion (and why do we really care, anyway?). If she really is hitting rock bottom, I suppose you can either start the suicide watch or else expect that she will soon very publicly and obnoxiously "find God". Or both. TV-movie screenwriters are already hard at work, I'm sure.

Is something missing in your life?
quarter23cd replied to cryptique's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I'm a little amazed that people are believing this is real--especially when one of the drug's supposed benefits is "Increased spending ability". But hey, if it was for real, sign me up! -
Yeah, capturing an IP really isn't difficult at all. Tools like HideIP or whatever can impede it somewhat, but I'm sure it is no problem to get around it for a pro at that sort of thing. I'm sure they have massive logs of data of such things. How they choose who to prosecute is beyond me (I'm guessing they go by the "eenie meenie miney mo" system) because I'm sure there is no shortage of data. The internets are a glorious thing, but Big Brother is all over the place.
