Not according to that other thread.

This site is too funy to be real, yet too sincere to be a joke. May cod bless the interwebs!!

I have been unable to listen to any Eels after Electroshock Blues. That record bummed me out so much I probably still haven't recovered.
-
Only one time, eh? I'm hoping this makes the cut for the new album cuz I think this is easily my favorite of the newer songs.
-
Ok, I'm going to admit to not watching a bit of this and mostly putting off reading about it today--what was Mutombo doing there? Announcing his candidacy for '08? Challenging Bush to a game of Horse? Now I'm curious!

Thank you for reminding me that I have not seen a new film in the last year. (longer, actually)

Both of my kids seemed to really like Coltrane's "Blue Train" when they were young. Now that they're old enough to state their preferences, we frequently end up with the Wiggles or a Disney soundtrack. The good news is that I managed to sneak some good music into their developing brains in the early days, so its only a matter of time before they come back around...

Unofficially, Parcells is at the top of the list of potential candidates for the opening.

This just seems irresponsible to me. What's going to happen to that crowd when thousands and thousands of people start getting trashed playing the "Roxanne" drinking game? Mayhem, my friends...

"Is That the Thanks I Get" will appear as a "hidden" track that will appear in the wake of a 15 minute kickass drum solo with the working title "(John Bonham's) Ghost Is Born". No, seriously. I would like to hear that.

Thanks to the the hazy warm fuzzy glow of nostalgia, I have actually grown to like that song. In moderation. This album could only have been improved if "Lets Hear It For Rock n' Roll" was included. (certainly it is no less dopey than Casino Queen, and rocks harder, IMO)

Agreed. Any ideas about the metaphorical importance behind Screen Door?

Thanks for validating my 7th grade musical tastes. I went through the DefLep phase, too, working my way backwards from Hysteria. Once I got to High and Dry I was like "Holy crap, this is awesome!" I haven't bothered ever going back to revisit those tapes to find out whether or not they really were awesome or not, but nice to know I'm not the only one who thought so.

Jeff talked about the new album tonight in Nashville
quarter23cd replied to BigWheeledWagon's topic in Just A Fan
Is this a new Wilco album or an Allman Bros tribute album? Either way, I'm buying it. -
I may actually have to check this out. I used to be a Farrar fanboy, but kinda lost interest over time. I last listened to him when "Terroir Blues" came out and that pretty much convinced me that I was officially bored and done with him. This one sounds promising, tho.

When I hear live music in a crowded setting, my hardwired primary instinct is to want to move, dance, headbang, twirl, mosh, skank , or just nod-semi-approvingly in a detached hipsterish fashion. The outlet for this energy may change with my musical tastes, but what stays the same is that the first thing I look for in live music is that kind of kinetic energy that makes you want to move...so I like the faster tempos. If pensive reflection is on the menu, then you either need to establish that from the start (a la a quiet solo/acoustic show) or else, to me, there is nothing better than when a

Any "sport" that is, in actuality, just something that you might normally do while hanging out with a bunch of friends while getting trashed makes for questionable TV. This includes: bowling, golf, poker, car racing.
-
If it will cut down on the amount of poker coverage, I'm in favor of it being all over the TV. I still don't get the appeal of TV poker.

Wow, these rankings keep coming out earlier and earlier. I'm not so sure about ranking OSU at #8. With a new QB in town, we're likely to see a return to the "punt 'em to death" offensive philosophy, and it remains to be seen if they will stay with their recent trend of playing 4 full quarters of prevent defense if their opponent lines up in a spread formation. (if so, every game next year might end up looking like it did a couple nights ago)

That's funny. We were considering Owen if our first child had been a boy--in 2003, also--we thought it was fairly rare, too. Oh well. We had also considered Ethan, not thinking that was very popular, but that one seems to be gaining recently, too. But none of those names can hold a candle to the fact that I think I personally know at least 352 children named Jacob born in the last 3 years.(that might be an exaggeration, but not by much) Fortunately for me, we keep having girls, so we haven't had to think too hard about boys names.

Pearl Jam's take on "Love Reign O'er Me" is...
quarter23cd replied to chriscolbert's topic in Someone Else's Song
Okay, I know Adam Sandler has been trying more serious roles in recent years, but still. Serisously, read that description again--out loud--and then ask yourself who in their right mind gave this film the green light. -
what magazines, newspapers do you subscribe to?
quarter23cd replied to Atticus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I own one and use it all the time, but where I used to live my reception was so bad (tried a few different carriers) that in my daily routine the only places I could get a dependable reception were at work and at my house. Every day I had resist the urge to chuck the damn thing into the lake I drove past on my way to/from work. -
what magazines, newspapers do you subscribe to?
quarter23cd replied to Atticus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The only subscriptions I have are to McSweeney's and The Believer, which my wife refers to as "those weird things you get in the mail but never have time to read". My subscription is about up and I'm not sure if I'll renew just because its a bit on the pricey side. Other than that, I read everything online. -
Gee, I didn't realize he was eligible yet. Isn't he still on Baltimore's payroll?(worst signing ever!)
