  1. i'm calling for rick rubin to hold a funeral for the word 'poot'.
  2. nope, i think that is pretty dead on...but taking it one step further, the studio itself has to buy into that relationship as well. i think they finally have started to realize just how much of a relationship alot of their 'target demographic' have w/ these charchters/properties. and, thanks to my local library, i'm covering major ground in catching up. i'm digesting about 4-5 graphic novels/collected storylines a week. good for you!
  3. again, that was my original point. i had the opposite experience and enjoyed the film just fine. it's also why i'm now second-guessing my enthusiasm over rodriguez turning mike allred's madman comic into a flick...i love that comic so much that i'm worried there is no way a film version could ever work. also, i had no idea you read comic books. sooie, nice catch. if she says she's up for a M/F/F threesome, marry her right away.
  4. the comic was fantastic and, like lou said, the film started off strong and then kind of puttered out. the hewlett opening/closing credits were phenomenal. lori petty ended up grating my nerves after a while, as she is prone to do in every film i've ever seen her in.
  5. absolutely, i neglected to mention that as an example yesterday. look, the reality is you will NEVER have a fully-realized adaptation of a comic book w/ live actors. 'sin city' was great, but there was no way you could truly replicate what the amazing frank miller art brings to the charachters/story. as long as you go into these films w/ that level of expectation, you have fun with them. in other news, i'm reading marvel's 'civil war' TPB. it's enjoyable.
  6. well, fuck it. now i'm not even going to read the book. being a realist, i know i'll cave before the film, read it anyhow and be completely against the flick before i even see it.
  7. the guys that sits by me that was let go in our massive layoffs a week ago...just got another gig offer internally 30 minutes before he was supposed to walk out of the building for good. amazing. keep plugging away, kids...something will pop.
  8. sweet. you two can not go see the movie together. i thought 300 and V for V were entertaining enough...that said, i haven't actually read either book yet. thus, my original point. plus, mr. subjective, this is all subjective.
  9. noted, but i'll still give it the benefit of the doubt until i actually see it. that's insane, all the borders and barnes/nobles up here have like 100 copies of it strewn about all over the store. seriously though, i would not read it prior...film adaptations of books (comic or otherwise) never seem to live up to the original. however, if you don't how good the book is...you may actually enjoy the movie on it's own merits. also, i'm insane w/ the rules i have for myself on how i consume different forms of media/literature, so don't listen to me. now i'm definitely not reading the book p
  10. i bet some of it gets spent at one of those sushi places you can eat off of a nude asian chick. all work no play, c'mon.
  11. so, i finally bought 'watchmen'...new hardcover version that was on sale for 40%. i'm not going to read it until after i see the movie though...i feel the other way around will just be dissapointing.
  12. ~20...i'd have to go back and check. i've read a good 6-7 of them i've really enjoyed actually.
  13. i'd even watch season two right now... 'BETH, GET OUTTA' BED!'
  14. i'd actually vote for ticket that had the spanish girl from the miami cast who was spanking the other chick in the shower for president.
  15. i'd vote for a ticket w/ puck as the vp over a ticket w/ palin as the vp.
  16. worth checking out, no matter what your geek poison of choice is.
  17. yes, my wife reminded me to vote against it because: 'those morons can fuck w/ my teacher's pension'.
