  1. are they celebrating obama or alfred e. newman?! check out that banner!
  2. BTW, my blog header as of this morning... ...tomorrow, it'll be back to contributing to society w/ useless posts about comics, music and flicks.
  3. quoted for truth...i'll say it again, personally, i'm more impressed with the fact i often forget that he is black...than the fact he is black or half-black or whatever. this decision is much bigger than the 'youth' vote or the 'hispanic' vote or the 'black' vote...the breakdown of the exit polls and the resulting electorate AND polular vote, paint a much more unified picture, IMO.
  4. as a father of two brothers, this made me laugh my ass off.
  5. i love lou, but his 'historical footnote' dig was porn-star sized prickishness.
  6. my biggest beef w/ the media coverage...all of it...was their retreat to the safe place of 'OMG OUR NEW PRESIDENT IS BLACK'. it's historically relevant, exciting and as someone who's white, something i'll never be able to be as enthused about as someone of color. however... the fact is that race, while a contributing factor via the votes he received, isn't the most impressive part of the story...it's the fact that he seemed to rise above his skin color and speak to everybody...or at least try to. he didn't make his campaign about race, but the fucking media turned it right back into that the
  7. i hope he does stay to the middle, because (and i've said it before) i think the real america and reality in general resides there.
  8. like it or not, that is 100% truth. this may just be my view, but there was more of an inclusiveness to the tone of the obama campaign, where mccain seemed to allow himself to become 'maverick' in name only and cowtow to the same exact base of the last 2 elections. somebody should have seen earlier on that wasn't going to play this time around.
  9. apparently, my kids didn't get the memo that we woke up in a new america this morning...they still refused to brush their teeth and were pains in the ass getting them out the door to the sitter. actually, both of them seemed pretty jacked when i told them 'obama won'...however, when i tried to explain to them who the president is and what he does, they still argued that their mom is the 'boss of everything'. all that said, like our new president-elect said, real change has not occured w/ his election...what, at least for me, has changed is an increased possibility and ethusiasm to get to
  10. i'm so upbeat, that even the media's need to focus on president elect black guy versus president elect OBAMA isn't bugging me. a proud day. i'm proud to live in chicago(land)...proud to be born and raised in illinois...proud of my vote...and proud to be able to say i'm proud to be an american w/out the polarizing lee greenwood overtones. now, we can go back to arguing about god, wilco and baseball.
  11. i always forget, but there is totally smoking milf/cougar election official at my local polling place. i only see her when it's time to vote, but she still looks good.
  12. i bust your chops for posting articles and stuff all the time, but that was great. not to be corny, but i thought a lot about my kids when i cast my vote this morning...how i don't just want this for me, but (maybe even more so) for them. thanks, joe.
  13. it may be one of my favorite things ever posted on VC.
  14. 'this is tweedy, bring home 2 chocolate chip cookies and one peanut butter cookie for the children. again, this is tweedy'.
  15. so ction, you really do read my blog? love, poptodd
  16. 'Said my niggaz dont dance, We just pull up our pants and, Do da Roc-away. Now lean back, lean back, lean back, lean back.' HOPE!
  17. you know, we have had our skirmishes...but reading that, coming from you, made me smile. for real. hopefully, w/ a black man in the highest elected office in the country, we can work on changing your mind about hip-hop.
