dude, think i'm going to have to get that horsmen dvd. i remember being stoked when i saw it was being released, but forgot all about it until your post...and you know my sentiments echo yours exactly, i think i watched TBS during that same timeframe EVERY saturday for years and years.

me too. well, at least he has plenty to keep him busy in retirement...RIC FLAIR FINANCE (NOT A JOKE)!
-
well, he is the 'limousine ridin', jet flying, kiss stealin', wheelin' dealing, son of a gun' and, like he said himself: 'Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it still has the longest line!'

he had his final match at wrestlemania on sunday and they had a big tribute to him on last night's RAW program that featured a reunion of the Four Horsemen. he'd been wrestilng about as long as i've been alive and was one of the best entertainers i've ever seen. i have sooo many great memories watching him every saturday afternoon on TBS. hulk hogan is considered the biggest icon the business ever spawned, but he ended up a such a property/caricture...the nature boy lived the role to the hilt. he still has a few years on his wwe contract, so i'd never say never...but i guess he stated he'l

a couple of former co-workers occasionally referred to me as 'white chocolate'...'white shadow' may have been thrown out there once or twice as well. absolutely.

so, i got really excited when i saw that this... ...was on one of the movie channels saturday night. it was one of those flicks that we must have watched every time it played on HBO as youngsters. i was floored w/ how much i disliked it now. no amount of nostalgia could cover up it's flaws. there were still a few things visually that i enjoyed, especially in the context of the time it was made...but overall, what a bummer.

Nope. I enjoyed it just fine, but I thought it paled in comparison in the funny dept. w/ 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

i don't really find that Obama has done anything scandalous...he didn't cover anything up or actually say anything wrong himself. seems i'm not the only one who really doesn't look at it as a priority... -
this is a thread where you list your favorite band, knowing that there is no way in hell they are as good as my favorite band. not only are they not as good, but they actually suck. Go!

i agree...gary panter is rad.

while i'd agree that the word talent may not be completely subjective, it is still subjective. plus, you seem to be arguing from a standpoint of technical profficency and experieince level, rather than talent...which, i think, is a more ambiguous term. as far as, the whole tree in the woods if nothing can be better than somethign else than it's nothing thing...we're talking things of an artistic vein...there is no scoring system as there is baseball or algebra test to ascribe a pass/fail grade. let's take it back to the original comparison that started this thread...how can one definitviel

i don't struggle with it at all.

well, true that. carry on, white kids! absolutely.

i can't put my finger on it, but there is something about that statement that doesn't sit well w/ me.

glad to hear she is recovering nicely, but >> until she's back at 100%.

what the hell is your problem w/ big trouble in little china?! go merge some threads, illuminati!
-
ditto. i find it no more ridiculous than 50% of the other thread in Just A Fan.
-
for the record, i do understand where you and others are coming from...i just can't find myself able to tell somebody that what they find has artistic merit, doesn't. because i find both the words 'artistic' and 'merit' too hard not to find some level of subjectivity in. it's all good though...it does make for intertesting discussion. people seem to hate these threads, but i think it's fun to bat the whole thing around.
-
indeed.

i can't say that, but i don't see why someone else couldn't. why can't it be? because it's a comedy or based entirely in satire? personally, yes i find more 'artistic merit' in those other films...but my point is that my definition of artistic merit may be completely different than someone else's. those of you who keep arguing that this is a definitive/universal standard keep using the most apples/oranges comparisons to make your case. again, lets try this again using my earlier example: yes, i can. for completely different reasons than the other two, but yes. they are three different f

VU are one of those bands I appreciate and they have several songs I enjoy very much...however, I can count on one hand how may times i've found myself saying: 'i really feel like sitting down and listening to white light/white heat in it's entirety'. i can probably count on even fewer fingers where i actually did just that. that said, i can totally understand how somebody could listen to it every day and/or have it change their life. in fact, i dig that there is so much music out there for people to make a their own personal connection with...hopefully of a postive nature...one that makes T

you should be able to like blink 182 or ryan adams as much as you want to...even more than wilco. there is no way for anybody to prove you 'wrong' in doing so. it's impossible. i actually saw them live w/ alkaline trio and what may have been either new found glory or simple plan or one of those type of groups. alkaline trio was great and so was blink 182. it was fun show. same unbridled fun i felt at the warped tour i went to a few stops on when we were sponsors. a refreshing lack of pretentiousness and a bunch of folks just having fun enjoying the type of music they loved.
