  1. really?! hmm, i'm finding it solid enough...at least i'm enjoying it no more/ no less than 'game theory'. do agree w/ the guest spot comment to some extent, it can definitely clutter things up a little.
  2. lumbers a little in the middle, but it's still chock full w/ grooves think enough you could sop them up w/ a biscuit. i love black thought's flow more and more w/ every album and i've never felt whiter listening to '75 Bars'. wow.
  3. while neither crowd bothers me (being a yuppie frat boy), i hear you.
  4. it's like you posted straight from my head.
  5. Candy - Iggy Pop Planet Claire - B-52's Cecilia Ann - Pixies Edie (Ciao Baby) - The Cult Emma Blowgun's Last Stand - Beulah
  6. you name it, i've given it a try. they've each had a slew of tracks I really like, but either the slower jams have been too slow or the rockers have ended up sounding redundant. this time around, they've all gelled for me. 'one chord to another' came close and 'pretty together' almost did it...but there were few tunes that stopped them short from being a total package. what can i say. seeing them live last summer helped peak my interest even more...it was a fun show.
  7. yep...i hate blacks and love god/young boys. hooray!
  8. sooo now my belief in god puts me in the same boat as the KKK and NAMBLA. fucking awesome.
  9. see, that's interesting to me...it's the first full sloan album i've really enjoyed front to back. until this point, it's just been a handful of tracks on each that i've really liked. ah well, to each their own.
  10. i like the Shepard Fairey, Mark Frauenfelder, Robert Mankoff, Katsuhiko Hibino, Ki-soo Kwon, Akira Isogawa and Camilla Engman themes.
  11. it'd be a little more concerning to me if this was a mandated plate for everyone in the state versus one that somebody could choose, for an extra fee, of their own accord. i don't find it an endorsement of a religious belief, but recognition that there are folks who are bullish enough about said belief that they want it on their license plate.
  12. my favorite track and, as i put on my blog, my favorite song about the struggle w/ adulthood since 'I'm an Adult Now' by The Pursuit of Happiness. they finally cracked the code for me. i've always appreciated the band and i really dig a lot of their tunes...but i've always stopped short of categorizing myself as a 'real fan'. this album has officially pushed me over the edge.
  13. my father-in-law passed away ~ 5 years ago due to liver complications brought on by struggles w/ alcaholism. it pains me that my kids will never get to know their other grandfather, who (addiction aside) was a good man who thought the world of the concept of family. it was excrutiatingly rough on my mom/brother-in-law and wife...but as time has passed, while you never forget, you do learn to cope and make it appreciate your own life even more. stay strong, god bless.
  14. i had a full set of not-at-all-mint KISS cards that i was sure was going to be worth big $ when i went to go sell them in high school. needless to say, i should have just kept them.
  15. oh man. kate, i'm so sorry. you know that you, Em and Graham are in our prayers. should you need anything, please let us know. god bless.
  16. see, i went back and forth between liking and really disliking the monster...obviously, it's harder to make an antagonist of that scale that you can get into, but the beastie in 'the host' was 100% cooler.
  17. wow. this is really fucking good.
  18. i enjoyed it enough, but i totally get what you're saying.
  19. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is slightly better than Superbad.
  20. they come up every time a rap thread breaks out...justifiably so, as they are phenomenal, especially pete rock.
  21. ohmega watts, giant panda and people under the stairs are some good new schoolers.
