  1. i remember the soundtracks to both 'singles' and 'the crow' kind of being snapshots of what 'alternative' music was in the 90's. lord knows that singles soundtrack was on all over the place when i was in college.
  2. my wife is a fan of listening to music, but she doesn't proactively seek it out. every once in a while she'll grab a few new albums from iTunes if she catches wind of something new she likes...a lot of soundtracks, as she watches a lot of movies. big fan of 80's new wave/alternative/some pop (go-gos, cure, psychadelic furs, etc.) and electronica/dance music (moby, chemical brothers, groove armada, etc.) as well. she's definitely no music snob, she has no issue w/ listening to something that would be considered 'popular'. she likes wilco just fine, but if she actually listens to something w/
  3. finally saw 'cloverfield' on dvd last night. i thought it was fun and the camera stuff didn't really bother me (in fact, i kind of liked it)...however, the attempt at the charachter development via the party scene at the beginning stretched out wayyyyy too long. i'm kind of glad there is an impending sequel, i'm kind of curious what the thing was and where it came from.
  4. interesting. it's no mcrib, but it's worth trying.
  5. your thoughts? i did a side by side comparison over the weekend at my alma matter...chic-fil-a still better, but props to ronald for coming up w/ a near match good enough for guys like me that have no chic-fil-a in the immediate area.
  6. did you see my post on mcdonald's version of the chic-fil-a?
  7. congratulations on your new hair!
  8. that stuff is like the hangover version of kryptonite for me. i feel like death the next day even after a few.
  9. i had a couple cans of bush light over the weekend before we headed out...a buddy of mine is a cop and he confiscated them the night before and they had been chlling in the cooler all night. they tasted remarkably good in a pinch. do they still make little kings? i used to get a case of those for dirt cheap in college...or a sixer of mickey's big mouths...or a case of schaeffer light until keystone came along. nowadays, i'll go leinie's on the cheap or if i need to get really cheap, old style.
  10. i think we've rounded that point more times than chevy chase rounded big ben/parliament in 'european vacation.'
  11. VU is a band a musician will say influenced them...van halen is a band that actually influenced musicians (especially guitarists).
  12. i listened to that song 5 times over the weekend. my wife has been playing the new moby album a little too much for my liking...but in comparison to the 'cars' and 'madagascar' soundtracks the kids have to listen to when we eat, i can live with it.
  13. the fact that there was never a sequel to 'big trouble in little china' is one of the greatest travesties in american cinema. the awfulness of the sequel to 'escape from new york' makes me think that last sentence is full of shit.
  14. i'll vote for hillary should she get the nod, but it'll be begrudgingly and under the auspices my vote has a snowball's chance in hell of electing her president. i don't 'hate' her...i just don't like the way she carries herself. like i've said before, you can be right on the money w/ your platform and stance on the issues that matter to me...but you also need to be somebody i can truly believe will be able to get as many people together as possible to actually make those policies happen. i don't see that in her.
  15. eddie vedder is not a singer, let alone a good one. also, nirvana is the most overrated band of all time. they are no better than the candleboxes and sponges that came in their wake.
  16. mighty bosstones - someday i suppose and impression that i get
  17. Teaser Trailer for Frank Miller's 'The Spirit'
  18. i'd say party at ground zero was probably bigger as a single, but we're talking 90's.
  19. as was sunless saturday and fight the youth...i actually loved that album.
  20. it's actually a LL cool j cover...we used to play it in our apartment all the time back in college. yep, i remember the 2 live crew thing as well.
  21. dude, check out his tune 'adidas world' as well. i'm not liek a huge fan or anything, but i that it was just as fun as 'girl like you'. L7 - pretend that we're dead young black teenagers - tap the bottle (maybe not alternative, but it sure reminds me of the 90's) too much joy - that's a lie
  22. Long Beach Dub Allstars - Sunny Hours (until it was used as the theme song to NBC's 'joey') The Farm - Groovy Train and All Together Now Jesus Jones - Devil You Know Ned
  23. i've never heard a good radiohead album, only a few good radiohead songs. bonus: whomever thought the world needed a thom yorke solo album should be forever barred from the record industry.
