Does anyone have a good tab for Tweedy's solo version of Blasting Fonda?
-
Funny you say that, at both Toronto shows recently he did a awesome cover of Elvis Costello's Alison. I haven't listen to him much to give any album recommendations but I would definitely check out that cover.

My vinyl came in today as well. The sound quality and perfection of One Sunday Morning is pure heaven, and it's definetly a longer version.

It's Wilco Weekend on The Spectrum (Sirius/XM Channel 28)
Every Little Thing replied to MWB's topic in Just A Fan
Sounds so awesome, I know what station I'm listening to this weekend! -
Jeff Tweedy writes the most amazing lyrics but some that always stand out: "If this were still new to me I won't understand, Impossible Germany unlikely Japan." "You were right about the starts, each one is a setting sun" "I feel some connection between you and me. Well I guess that's some direction maybe you can't see." "You keep dealing with all of these feelings like they got you believing they have no meaning, but they do."

One Sunday Morning hands down, Art of Almost and Whole love a close second.

One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)
Every Little Thing replied to ViaBuffalo's topic in Just A Fan
Saw it live in Toronto as the opener, it's as outstanding live as it is studio. The hipster seems to respect it and most stayed quite through it. Although being the first song meant all those annoying late unprepared people rushing to there seats as if they had no idea they were coming on on Call me crazy but when I pay money for awesome seats to see my favorite band play, I'm making sure I'm in my seats in a timely fashion and not being a douche and cutting in front of people who are actually in their seats because they were smart enough to know that they should just chill in their seats fo -
I was there both nights so it was great to have both verisons of Jesus etc. I'm usually not a sing a long person at all, but I have to say hearing everyone singing along in unison was pretty awesome. It really gives you a great feeling, and we did pretty well with keeping up and not petering out to much. The venue was so perfect for Wilco. The actual seats were kind of strange the way they were either 90 degree angle or loungey, but Massey Hall is great. I always get a kick out of the weird "should we sit or stand?" dynamic, but after the second song everyone made the wise decision to stand.

Wilco -- 9/16/2011, Toronto, ON
Every Little Thing replied to fourfeathers's topic in After The Show
While I agree that the security was a little over zealous about camera use, that guy got warned at least 5 times about taking pictures with his camera, he totally deserved getting thrown out. He even refused to get up for the longest time, plus it was pretty distracting when im trying to watch Nels totally kill it for Impossible Germany.. that's just disrespectful. -
One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)
Every Little Thing replied to ViaBuffalo's topic in Just A Fan
Hell If I was him I would honored to have Tweedy write such a brilliant song about my life, and if I was her I would be pretty jazzed to talk with Tweedy in person let alone have him write a 12 minute song about my boyfriend. -
One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)
Every Little Thing replied to ViaBuffalo's topic in Just A Fan
This is what I believe the lyrics are, I'm pretty sure they are like 98% right: One Sunday Morning (Song for Jane Smiley's Boyfriend): This is how I tell it Oh but it's long One Sunday morning, Oh one son is gone I can see where it's dawning [This is the only line I'm unsure of] Over the sea My father said what I had become, No one should be Outside I look lived in Like the bones in a shrine How am I forgiven? Oh I'll give it time This I learned without warning Holding my brow In time you thought I would kill him Oh but I didn't know how I said it's your god I don't believe in No you -
I found that scene very classy, dignified, and artsy.

We REALLY need that new record...
Every Little Thing replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Just A Fan
I really liked Sky Blue Sky, I never understood why people thought it was a such a let down. That album has some really solid songs, Impossible Germany is one of my top 5 favorite wilco songs. As for the converting friends thing I really completely understand, I only know 2 other Wilco fans in real life, one of those being a family member. -
I found the list to be pretty accurate, although I would definitely put She's a Jar and Impossible Germany in the top 10.

Dawes in Chevy commercial
Every Little Thing replied to sonicshoulder's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think it's good exposure for bands to allow their songs to be used in commercials. Honestly I would rather sit through commercials playing Dawes and The Black Keys than have to sit through a commercial playing awful music like Justin beiber and Kesha. Good for them for getting their music out there. It doesn't diminish the song's quality because it was used in a car commercial. To not listen to a band because of commercial use is stupid and pretentious. -
That sounds about right. I can't think of a single band I hate more than Dave Matthews Band. I hate their music, their fans, and everything they stand for.

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Every Little Thing replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
Midlake for me has always been one of those bands that I really should be into but I'm not. I've dabbled in their songs on several occasions and I would said comparatively Fleet Foxes are stronger lyrically and harmony wise, and even in originality for only having one album officially out and a second weeks away. I disagree I think they will get better with age and I think that is apparent with the release of Helplessness Blues, which is so far producing some very solid tracks.
