Some of the street teaming is for major label acts that no one gives a shit about, like Crosby Fucking Loggins. It's pathetic that his label (RCA / Jive / Sony BMG) pays people to sit on the internet all day and post on message boards along the lines of "He sounds just like __insert message board band name here__, you should go check him out!" I guess I'm differentiating between major label scum street teaming versus small unknown band on a small unknown indie label steet teaming. Incidentally, Loggins new album 'Time to Move' that dropped July 14th is #3,134 on Amazon's ranking.

I heard 'Miracle' on XRT the other day, it was pretty good on first listen -- definitely closer to Dream Police than it was to The Flame.

He's got every room in Princeland Ranch hooked up with a mic, including his bathroom(s). I'm not sure you'd want to hear every single recording in his vault.

I know we're going to meet some day In the crumbled financial institutions of this land There will be tables and chairs There'll be camel rides and dancing bears There'll even be a band Cause listen, after the fall there will be no more countries No currencies at all, we're gonna live on our wits We're gonna throw away survival kits Trade butterfly-knives for adderall And that's not all Ooh-ooh, there will be snacks there will There will be snacks There will be snacks

If you're unfortunate enough to be named Crosby Loggins, you need all the help you can get.

I can't stop watching your avatar, dude.

I heard Spin just laid off some people last month. I wasn't sad to see Blender die off, but I think I would miss Spin, especially since they gave Wilco some love. It was well worth me renewing my subscription for $15 for two years.

"Jeff Tweedy rose from modest, humble beginnings. His father worked on a railroad, his family literally ate coal for years at a time. As a boy, he formed a connection with Jay Farrar, a bond of musical kindred spirts seeped in moonshine whiskey and carved in oak and sycamore. Since Belleville, Illinois lacked electricity, running water, and received its news through smoke signals, all the boys could do after school was play guitar and dream of forming a band that critics would write idiotic prose about. Their musical bond with Mike Heidorn forged the beginnings of Uncle Tupelo in a shower of

Too Far Apart - Key Lyric - "Is it really punk rock, like the party line?"

What's wrong with I Can't Keep From Talking? That's a fantastic song. 'That's Not the Issue' on the other hand doesn't deserve to be within 1,000 yards of any top 20.

#2 - Ashes of American Flags - http://www.americansongwriter.com/2009/08/the-top-20-jeff-tweedy-songs-2-ashes-of-american-flags/ Does that mean #1 is Misunderstood?

Great, surreal lyrics. I was going to post a few lines from it but frankly, it's all good: Spiders are singing in the salty breeze Spiders are filling out tax returns Spinning out webs of deductions and melodies On a private beach in Michigan Why can't they wish their kisses good Why do they miss when their kisses should Fly like winging birds fighting for the keys On a private beach in Michigan This recent rash of kidsmoke All these telescopic poems It's good to be alone Why can't they say what they want Why can't they just say what they mean Come clean, listen and talk Hello

It has more to do with melody than lyrics for me. I thought it would be an amusing #3. It doesn't mean I think it's in the bottom 3, either, but it's closer to the bottom than it is to the top.

Just picked up a copy from Barnes & Noble. Article was pretty high in cliched content, fell just short of saying that Wilco rose from the ashes of Uncle Tupelo. Great photos, though.
-
It was a sort like a Rick Roll, only the click-through outcome was way better than anticipated, not way worse.

I missed this tonight - anyone catch it?

More because I didn't have $1,000 on me and I couldn't find a cash machine.

There are a lot of stupid things organisms do for enjoyment. A hamster enjoys running on a wheel that spins in one place without moving an inch. Assigning numeric rank and value to songs knocks our IQs down to those of hamsters on wheels.

Ranking works of art is inherently stupid. I figured I'd be the first one to come out and say this since we all seem to be in denial.
