He opened up his personal medical records regarding his mental health in 2000 and now he's opening up his personal medical records regarding his various treatments since then including the major surgeries removing melanomas. Because Obama supporters are trying really hard to make McCain's age an issue, and, apparently, the fact that as a POW he might be mentally unfit. All of this is eerily similar to the whispering in 2000 when he was running against Bush. It's almost amazing how some people will lambaste Karl Rove and call him a criminal and then turn around and adopt his same tactics.

Actually, they haven't. But I'm with Jude, I don't know that it's as relevant. Although, Obama was/is a pretty big time smoker. Maybe you're confusing medical records with the financial records they released earlier this year.

That's a good topic for a different discussion. And I would certainly question a lot of their reasoning over the course of the last 6 years. However, aside from Rove writing the article, isn't the bigger concern that of "where do we go from here"?

From Obama's website: This seems fairly "precipitous" to me in this instance. Especially when used in the context of troop withdrawal. Therefore making the "specious wording" make sense in light of the fact that he'll remove troops (what Iran would want) before even talking to them or talking to them without preconditions.

I completely agree. I think the writers for most shows were kind of scrambling to come up with episodes to cram everything in and end their respective seasons, and the shows suffered because of it. But The Office finale knocked it out of the park.

I really loved SBS when it first came out. Although, this is true of each previous album, and I have a strong suspicion that this will be true of all of Wilco's future albums. That being said, I don't go back to it all that often, and it's one of two Wilco albums (the other being A.M.) that I skip around on a lot, depending on what I'm in the mood to listen to. Leave Me... is probably my least favorite Wilco song and What Light is another that I often skip without feeling any remorse. Like I said, severely misguided. Unfortunately, these people and their whacked-out ideas get lumped in together with all conservatives or Republicans and meaningful discussion and debate suffers as a result.

I think there are plenty of other veep candidates that could help mobilize the evangelical bloc, and provide more incentive for the conservative base. It doesn't end with Huckabee. In fact, I think he would be a rather poor choice.

That certainly sucks. Living in Fort Worth, though, American gives me the most options and nonstop flights, making it harder to find the right flight on a different airline.

There isn't a true "hard core right winger" that has no use for the Constitution. He's severely misguided if that's the case. Of course, this is true of people at the extremes of either side.

I don't think anyone was politicizing anything until you stepped in, though. Even the AFP story reporting the diagnosis made mention of the Chappaquiddick incident. And amidst all this talk of tragedy surrounding Ted Kennedy and the relative "tragic-ness" of it, it seems understandable that Mary Jo Kopechne would eventually get mentioned.
