So they targeted a "racist" ad at racist people in order to get these people not to vote for a black candidate. You're right. That is a waste of resources.

Barack Obama: "Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," says Barack Obama. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse." February 2005 story in Washington Post So if Obama is comparing himself to Paris Hilton, why is it bad for the Republicans to make the same link?

Drinking domestic tap beer puts you squarely in the single-celled organism class. You clearly have a long way to go.

That is funny.

Sarcasm just doesn't play well to the self-righteous and humorless.

Oprah and Tiger have both achieved fame and celebrity by being great at what they do and constantly raising the bar for themselves and the people in their respective fields. That is why Obama is nothing like those two and shares much more in common with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Two celebrities who have nothing to offer anyone. The only similarity between Obama and Oprah & Tiger is their skin color. So, apparently, that is all you care about.

Like you said, our political process jumped the shark a long time ago, like in 1796:

Perhaps the Scientologists have something to do with all of this. Getting back for Katie Holmes's dismissal. -
You should stop reading the Huffington Post. Race plays no part in that ad unless you want to see it. It's comparing Obama to two empty celebrities who are pretty much famous just for being famous. It's pretty funny, actually.

Me too. Unbelievable story.

We import crude oil from foreign sources, then refine it, then use it and export it in trade. I'm not sure where I see the "deception and greed."

According to the MMS, there was no significant damage or spillage caused by Katrina and Rita.

I don't remember him intentionally misinforming anybody of anything. Of course, I don't read every word he says either. According to his official website and a few speeches I looked up, the drilling is a long-term solution for reducing our dependence on foreign sources. He's also pushing hard for alternative sources of energy and the auto industry to get more fuel efficient.

So McCain should ignore the fact that two-thirds of the country favors offshore drilling?
-
Well, since polls show that roughly 60%-70% of people favor offshore drilling, I would say that McCain is wise to point out Obama's opposition.

Yeah, he had that "deer in the headlights" look on those last two at-bats, after grounding into the double play and the two errors. I felt bad for him, and even though I'm an A.L. guy, I was hoping he would redeem himself in the 12th by driving in a run. I don't like how writers are piling all over him, though.

Except for Miguel Tejada. But, you're right. He didn't cost them the game.

My experience has been that each individual interviewer is looking for something different. So I just try to be myself, be calm, research everything I can about the company and position, and sound confident. Generic advice, I know, but that's all I got. Good luck.

That is hysterical! Do some people actually go to this site for news?

When determining the original meaning of the text of the Amendment, looking at similar statutes and constitutions written at the same time is an important tool. Also, Kennedy largely disregarded other states that had made child rape a capital offense and declared them irrelevant. And Alito questioned him on it in the dissent. Scalia wrote neither opinion, so I'm not sure what you mean with respect to the death penalty case.

That's how our system of government is supposed to work. The legislators pass laws based on the will of the people as elected representatives of the people, who have a better understanding of evolving opinions of morality or decency or whatever else. The term "legislating from the bench" is a bit of a misnomer. When 5-9 people start determining whether a law is unconstitutional based on nothing more than their own sense of right or wrong, that's where the term comes from. Justices aren't appointed to be the nation's moral guide on all issues and laws, but rather unbiased interpreters of l

I've never understood the absolute hatred some people have for Scalia. He's easily the most brilliant mind on the bench right now. Of course, he's neither a constructionist nor a believer in framer's intent. And I'm not sure how he legislates from the bench or uses his morals as his guide. I guess he's an easy target based on how outspoken he is on the bench, but I would take 9 Scalias over people like Kennedy, Breyer, or Ginsburg any day.
