  1. Indeed - it was a bit of a shock. What next - JT beatboxing?
  2. In memoriam . . . A fitting tribute from the band, or should I say combo.
  3. Some memories of her groundbreaking research . . . And the one 'After the Show' report she managed:-
  4. It is with deep regret that I pass on some news I heard on the grapevine Lotti died in a tragic friendly fire harpoon incident last week. There is some softening of this deep blow to know that she passed as she would have wanted - face down in an icehole. She also had the solace of knowing that her campaign to link the (minor) success of Jeff Tweedy and Wilco to the influence of the Swedish megaband ABBA had found final recognition in the writing and words of Jeff Tweedy himself in recent months. If is good to know that she lived to see that. Family and friends gathered o
  5. A sad, sad day. Just about only Gareth, Gerald, John T. and Barry left now of the golden generation.
  6. Without him I would never have got to hear Brian Wilson sing God Only Knows live. Ta JF. Probably my favourite ever Glastonbury performance:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEL2RTHHIbQ Not the greatest quality video, but good enough. Also, About 15 years ago I was walking to work along the Embankment one day at about 7:40am and he was there with the non-Brian Wilson Beachboys who were outside performing a few songs in front of about 20 people for a Morning TV studio located there. What a joy. Same happened with Clean Bandit one time, but no co
  7. Since you're asking, the lodger character was Eddie Yates. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urisnmO3NdY Except for a dabble with Angie and Den I don't think I've watched a soap opera since Stan/Hilda/Eddie left Coronation Street.
  8. Ta. I count myself one of the blessed who once had a small interaction with Stan the man. As an aside, it is a damned close run choice between Albert Tatlock and his compadre Stan Ogden. Incidentally, Stan and Hilda's lodger voiced Paul McCartney in Yellow Submarine. Now don't tell me that reading my responses is a waste of your time!
  9. How many times do I have to tell you? Only the (posh) English say 'rugger'. 50th Anniversary just the other week. Where's the quadruple album bonus-tracked multi-format box set? Wonder if it's in your collection? Used to get my Dad Max's album every year for Christmas. You should request one of his songs from Cate le Bon. Sure she'd have a fit wondering where that request came from :-) Every one knows some of his songs so she should be able to reel one off no problem. Apart from the comedy songs, he did have a few touching folk songs too.
  10. Strange. You mentioned a 'different' atmosphere last night too. Wonder if people are partied out by the evening or whether there is some audience filtering at this event based on recent economic events (not sure if that is so much of a thing in the USA) that gives a different vibe. Probably as Cardiff lost to Llanelli at the weekend, with Ellis getting sent off. Our youngsters are doing well though with an exciting brand of rugby. But as she's from West Wales originally maybe she's still a Turk and was just guilty that he should not have been sent off.
  11. That was a pleasant surprise this morning. SBS has crept up on me without me really being aware - suppose as someone who's never going to go that happens. So on autopilot out of habit just checked by and saw it. Ta. P.S. Big fan of Wilco (The Song)
  12. Indeed. And to think that F.O.N.Y. is getting cancelled now as snowflakes say it is offensive. Feckin eejits.
  13. Careful - 2 commas in the thread title. 'Someone' may be getting mad :-)
  14. Like it. More for the lyrics after it was found on a cassette labelled ‘for Paul’ rahther than its inherent greatness, but glad that it is out there and better than I was expecting after hearing the original demo (if what was on the internet can be trusted). My real favourite part is the quintessential Beatleness of 1min 08 sec. You will know what I mean. P.S. And thank God no Jeff 'Chugga-crash' Lynne after those poor 90's efforts.
  15. You must be a bit cream-crackered yourself? Hope you have a rest too and get a fresh jotter and the lead back in your pencil, so to speak.
  16. You've pretty much got me down to a tee there matey. And it would be proper telly not streaming even for that, as Welsh TV would always show it. Old school rules. Ta.
  17. I think what they are doing with that live experience is incredible, but the new Atomic City (or whatever it is called) single sounds to me like the most phoned in piece of tat I've heard in a while.
