Is there a second series now (maybe not here in the UK yet - or BBC anyway where I saw it so far)? I really enjoyed the first.

Today the news came through about Barry. If J.P.R. was all about bravery and the heart in rugby, Barry was about the grace and poetry. The George Best and Johan Cruyff of rugby all in one. One of those select few sportsmen who are are just beautiful to watch - Nureyev with a rugby ball. And the incredible thing is that he walked away from the game at the age of 27 as the adoration in Wales got too much in affecting the life of what was then still a completely amateur sportsman. As the Max Boyce song says: I entered through the heavenl

Finally twigged what it reminded me of - Custers Last Stand, interpreted through the medium of dance.

She really has some fine videos too. And a great sense of humour from what I can tell.

Yeah - I like the roots country movement, and their classic songs, but wouldn't say I was a fan of theirs particularly - though I respect them of course. I suppose I was just expecting more on the cinematic side. It was just a bit of a dull watch from that point of view - especially given the director. I did enjoy that Once Were Brothers documentary a few years ago.

CMAT has appeared on my radar. Saw her/them on Later with Jools and the song she did there didn't immediately grab me, but this other song is an absolute belter - especially from the 2:00 mark. No auto-tuned warbling here. So I wouldn't call myself a fan yet but someone I am trying to keep tabs on. Apparently live shows are truly excellent.

By accident came across The Last Waltz the other day that I could see. I did wonder what all the fuss about that film was about actually. Good performance but ... Just saying. I did like the way they came across in the interview segments. Highlight for me was Emmylou - but disappointed that both her and Mavis's songs were recorded in a back lot studio. I did very much like the solo album that had Broken Arrow on it. Very atmospheric. I have that (and no The Band albums).

Indeed - it was a bit of a shock. What next - JT beatboxing?

In memoriam . . . A fitting tribute from the band, or should I say combo.

Some memories of her groundbreaking research . . . And the one 'After the Show' report she managed:-

It is with deep regret that I pass on some news I heard on the grapevine Lotti died in a tragic friendly fire harpoon incident last week. There is some softening of this deep blow to know that she passed as she would have wanted - face down in an icehole. She also had the solace of knowing that her campaign to link the (minor) success of Jeff Tweedy and Wilco to the influence of the Swedish megaband ABBA had found final recognition in the writing and words of Jeff Tweedy himself in recent months. If is good to know that she lived to see that. Family and friends gathered o

A sad, sad day. Just about only Gareth, Gerald, John T. and Barry left now of the golden generation.

Great review. Ta. -
Without him I would never have got to hear Brian Wilson sing God Only Knows live. Ta JF. Probably my favourite ever Glastonbury performance:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEL2RTHHIbQ Not the greatest quality video, but good enough. Also, About 15 years ago I was walking to work along the Embankment one day at about 7:40am and he was there with the non-Brian Wilson Beachboys who were outside performing a few songs in front of about 20 people for a Morning TV studio located there. What a joy. Same happened with Clean Bandit one time, but no co

Ta. I count myself one of the blessed who once had a small interaction with Stan the man. As an aside, it is a damned close run choice between Albert Tatlock and his compadre Stan Ogden. Incidentally, Stan and Hilda's lodger voiced Paul McCartney in Yellow Submarine. Now don't tell me that reading my responses is a waste of your time!

How many times do I have to tell you? Only the (posh) English say 'rugger'. 50th Anniversary just the other week. Where's the quadruple album bonus-tracked multi-format box set? Wonder if it's in your collection? Used to get my Dad Max's album every year for Christmas. You should request one of his songs from Cate le Bon. Sure she'd have a fit wondering where that request came from :-) Every one knows some of his songs so she should be able to reel one off no problem. Apart from the comedy songs, he did have a few touching folk songs too.

Strange. You mentioned a 'different' atmosphere last night too. Wonder if people are partied out by the evening or whether there is some audience filtering at this event based on recent economic events (not sure if that is so much of a thing in the USA) that gives a different vibe. Probably as Cardiff lost to Llanelli at the weekend, with Ellis getting sent off. Our youngsters are doing well though with an exciting brand of rugby. But as she's from West Wales originally maybe she's still a Turk and was just guilty that he should not have been sent off.

Indeed. And to think that F.O.N.Y. is getting cancelled now as snowflakes say it is offensive. Feckin eejits.
