  1. The Detectorists special - usual great low key stuff with a couple of nice twists. A treasure of itself. The Great Escape - from Boxing Day I think. What is Christmas without The Great Escape? Every time you think that Hilts just might make that jump over the wire.
  2. You are never less than vital. Enjoy the the Largo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMlxM69ZJFA
  3. I also heard yesterday that the last ever Doc Martin is going out over Christmas and I immediately thought of you LOL. It's funny that I've never seen a single episode.
  4. Yes. My new gold dance is all prepared.
  5. Interesting, I thought it would be a one-time narrative of 'the story'. Fingers crossed too. Did you ever see The Terror (series 1 - the one in the Arctic). Enjoyed that for the same kind of slow atmospheric development - though the actual 'terror' bits were the weakest part for me. Absolutely loved this.
  6. The BBC have this and am getting into it - love the detail and the slow burn.
  7. Maybe now. especially the first one with the fuller upbeat sound. Anyone who never cleans their trainers has already got me on side.
  8. Always a pleasure Mr Beltmann :thumbup
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgy4gjea1rY Something for you and something for me if I visit my sister sometime.
  10. You should do well in the rugby WC next year in France with Ireland currently no.1 in the rankings. Enjoy the ride! I will be only mildly following now unless some underdog takes my fancy - sometimes it's nice to doze on the settee with my feet up in the evening.
  11. Indeed. When I first heard it I thought it could be Emmylou, which is about the greatest compliment I can pay any female singer. Good lyrics too.
  12. Investigating Rosie Carney after hearing this song as a theme on a BBC radio programme.
  13. Doug C: Get what you are saying too given the Cold War use of sport, but believe football to be such a game of the people (probably alone of all sports) all over the world that it will be the people of Iran, not the state, who might draw some happiness from any success, and I wish them at least that. Not to mention that the team itself are protesting how they can (captain's interviews and not singing their national anthem in the first match). There was a protester ran onto the pitch during last nights game. Didn't quite have time to unfurl a rainbow flag before being tackled by security, but ha
  14. Nice story. Personally I don't actually watch domestic football. I'm a rugby fan and watch domestic rugby but for internationals Wales is Wales whatever the sport. Sorry USA (even though my sister lives there now after marrying an American) and given the Welsh chances are slim to none, I am now switching support to my second team. I visited in 2019 and they are a lovely, lovely people. Go Iran! "The power of the World Cup strikes like a bolt. The sound of the Iran national anthem being booed and whistled by Iranians before kick-off against Wales and the sight of Iranian
  15. Well done Iran. Well deserved and we've been very poor - sloppy in possession, Ramsey and Bale not significant, generally looking a bit lethargic.
  16. Also - nice if you can get past Bruce talking a bit too much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQOsOEkHSZk
  17. R.I.J.P. (rest in jerky peace) A must watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CZMLs8Ke40 One of my favourute 'rock biog' films.
  18. I second your emotion. JT - "When we kicked into that song the first time we did it, in an encore, I don't know if I've ever seen a reaction like that from such a sizable portion from the audience." - which doesn't say if it was a good or bad reaction, though I suppose it means good. https://www.grammy.com/news/wilco-cruel-country-jeff-tweedy-interview-new-album
  19. A fair result. We were so nervous and disjointed in the first half. Let's hope we both beat England but can't see us both qualifying - may end up on goal difference between us to get out of the group. Bale was in the same class in Cardiff Whitchurch High School as Sam Warburton - British and Irish Lions rugby captain, and the year above was Geraint Thomas - Tour de France winner. Give that PE teacher a medal.
  20. And this is what happens once you start on a YouTube journey Should be Some Stewart Lee there too - I'll leave that to you.
  21. First time for us since 58. Interesting group with England, Iran and USA. Shame it has to be at the worst host country ever, but that it our lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fpV0OFC0vc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emPhXdwhQoE The official version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Fag8ZQcz4 The sparks start flying on the 2 minute mark. Then we've still got the national anthem up our sleeve.
  22. The English Best western series I have enjoyed since Lonesome Dove for me (I don't have subscription TV so can't comment on that Deadwood series). Gorgeous to look at. More violent than Lonesome Dove. Interesting convoluted revenge story. Discovered it was written/directed by the same guy at The Shadow Line which i loved way back. A kind of western Peaky Blinders at its best in terms of atmosphere and set up for some scenes. Nearly in tears at the end.
  23. Loving this new old version. Something about that Beatles perfect imperfection of guitar/drums/vocals that makes it so listenable and alive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azvE5dh2f1A There's another 'first version' about now too that's also.
  24. Excellent reportage. Channelling Bbop indeed (he even won't have to complain about any deviation from his titling protocol). Ta.
