  1. Kurtz: We must kill them. We must incinerate them. Pig after pig... cow after cow... village after village... army after army... I'm gonna agree with Kurtz.
  2. Friday nite I listened to a live version of "Dazed and Confused" from March '75, Vancouver. About 35 minutes long, it encompassed everything that is great and awful about LZ. Lots of bloat and mindless jams but then there was the spectacular burst of riffs, crazy theramin and the vocal interplay with RP.....with a version of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" thrown in for good measure. I almost fast forwarded it but glad I didnt.

I did celebrate the return of the old recipe Schlitz. Good move on their part.
  4. Saw Giving Tree last nite at the Randolph St fest. They did an hour long set that with ended with an a cappella version of Townes Van Zants "Two Hands". Effing awesome. They have definitely recovered nicely from the loss of the fiddle and pedal steel guys. They are playing the Summer Solstice fest out in beautiful Yorkville IL next Friday nite, their set starts at 10:30pm. Its free and its a nice lil' fest.
  5. I thought Sweetheart was a blatant country album while their others were more poppy-jangly but what do I know?

  18. Reading Nash's autobiography lately and it inspired me to look into Still's Manassas. I didnt know word one about that band so......I got "Pieces" from the library and listened to it a few times over the weekend. Wow, there's some really solid rockin' tunes on it plus I was surprised to hear straight bluegrass too.
