Who missed the show when one of our kids got sick. i'm so sorry your wife couldn't be there, caty. hope your kid feels better soon. i had requested the acuff-rose, and we couldn't be there either. i won't go into the details (i already posted about it in a couple other threads last night) but while it was an incredibly scary night, the important thing is that my wife and daughter are both ok. thus begins my campaign to get it played at night two in port chester (10/29). any help in achieving that would b
  2. thanks for all the warm wishes, everybody. i shouldn't be surprised, but it is heartening to know that my favorite band has such wonderful people as fellow fans. wish i could have gifted two of you beautiful strangers our tickets- they're just sitting at will-call going to waste. at least we can watch the BAM show on youtube whever we finally get home from the ER. silver linings, right?
  3. was gonna be at tweedy tonight with my wife but in the hospital instead (see prior post in the sukierae thread). fortunately everyone's ok except my wife's bitten tongue- waiting for a CT scan to check on the root cause of the seizure so we won't be there. scary but could have been so much worse. hope you all have a great time, and if jeff plays acuff-rose without me there i'm gonna be pissed.
  4. hey all VCers- not too get too personal on here but i will probably miss the show tonight- my wife had a seizure while driving with my 3 year old daughter and got into an accident. EMT on phone said they're both ok. my son and i are currently in the ER waiting room waiting for the to let us in to see them. i know this is a weird place to share this but i needed to vent some of my fear without upsetting my son and wish the rest of you all a good show...
  5. got my cd copy from kung fu on tuesday at lunchtime, and have given it a few spins so far. really like the somewhat understated vibe in general, and even the tracks that didn't grab me as much at first are growing on me. definitely a mood piece- was lucky enough to catch the freeport show in july and get my first taste of many of these about 40 feet from the band. going to the berklee show tomorrow night- can't wait! any other VCers gonna be there? also, i would have to agree with the general consensus that nobody dies anymore is the clear standout among all 20 tunes (though that's not meant
  6. yeah- one of my all-time favorites. one of the best bird songs i think, plus that epic dark star>el paso. all my excitement over getting tickets for port chester also brought to mind one of my other favorite bootlegs from the days of a crate full of maxell XLII-S's- 2/18/71 at the capitol, with the delicious sandwich of dark star>wharf rat (first ever)>dark star...
  7. and i"m in! see you all on the floor in port chester for night 2!
  8. yeah- mixed feelings for me as well. really wanted to see the replacements (not to mention the roots, and lake street dive- one of the best live acts i've seen in quite a long time), but city hall plaza is a crappy place for a show, and tickets are so expensive. thinking about going down there sunday to loiter around and see how much i can hear from outside.
  9. sadly, no luck at freeport. requested it again online at wilcoworld for berklee at the end of the month- though I often wonder whether anyone reads more than 1% of those anyway. i'll just keep hoping. what would we be without wishful thinking?
  10. nice malkmus GIF, tinnitus! i spent a good hour last night looking through your portfolio online- you've got some really nice work. we've also attended more than a few shows together (aside from the obvious wilco handful)- charles bradley, pavement, sharon jones to name a few. one of my recent faves was sm & the jicks at the paradise last february- great shots from that, though i was hoping to see one of him catching the pack of newports from one lucky t-shirt-winning concertgoer. maybe see you at a show sometime- fingers crossed for better luck in the general on-sale for port chester nig
  11. also totally shut out for Capitol theater night 2. logged in at EXACTLY 10 am (to the second). will try on friday. BTW, is friday general on-sale exclusively through frontgate? i hate frontgate.
  12. so... i'm starting to think frontgate is just as bad as ticketmaster. logged in to my account at 9:58; no tix on sale yet. signed out and logged back in at exactly 10 am, and tried to buy 3 GA floor tickets; was told not enough available. tried other sections, same message. tried floor again, and it told me all presale tix were gone. in less than a minute? something seems fishy. grrrr... anyway, going to try for regular onsale on friday, but if i strike out, would love to hear from anyone who has extras. thanks!
  13. FYI, this was not a secret show- jeff has been listed as a performer on the official lineup for a while. hope maybe he did a tune or two with mavis and/or lucius as well. my brother-in-law and sister-in-law were there- looking forward to hearing about some highlights when i see them tomorrow.
  14. and yes, i believe the whole first set with the band was stuff from the new album. there was no set break- they all left the stage prior to IATTBYH and then returned for the encore. hope this one shows up on owl and bear at some point- i didn't see anyone taping.
  15. thanks for the addition and edit, inside of outside- i knew i was forgetting something. you guys were great show neighbors- hope the kids weren't too distracting. on the subject of distractions, what was up with the two guys having a noisy heated discussion next to the soundboard midway through? some people just need civility lessons...
  16. p.s. pretty sure hesitating beauty was in the solo set too. sorry the memory ain't what it used to be.
  17. awesome night. drove up from boston in the morning, took a lovely dip in the pool at the best western, then headed into town and parked a 2-minute walk from the stage. we got there about 2 hours before showtime, finding a small patch of grass near the back of the park to set up our chairs and feed the kiddos. 10 minutes before showtime, a very sweet couple from freeport found us and let us take their spot they had staked out at midnight directly in front of the soundboard, no more than 40 feet from the stage (they scored VIP passes and wanted to give their spot to someone deserving- we were lu
  18. awesome. going to see jeff and spencer tomorrow in maine. listening to even more than my usual diet of jeff/wilco/uncle tupelo the last few days- this capped my night. see you all at the show- fingers crossed for an acuff-rose...
