getting psyched, boys and girls... fingers crossed for my long-shot requests to pop up (shake it off for tonight, acuff-rose for tomorrow), but i'm just thrilled that it's finally here- feels like solid sound was a long time ago. we'll be orchestra row N (left center) and i'll have my bernie shirt on tonight. my name's isaac- say hi if you see me. have a great show, everybody...

Tedeschi Trucks Band Thread
last cigarettes replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Someone Else's Song
saw them at PPAC in providence in december- great show. derek is a monster. i really like susan in this band so much more than her earlier solo stuff. she sang a beautiful cover of don't think twice it's alright that had me misty-eyed. she reminds me a lot of bonnie raitt (a great thing in my book). looking forward to hearing the new record... -
Wilco - State Theatre Portland, ME 1/27
last cigarettes replied to Cam Jones's topic in After The Show
WORD. all my fellow boston VCers are spot on with this idea. we went to the cap in port chester for the first time for one of the october shows last year and it was such a perfect wilco venue- the cozy warm feel and neat details of a handsome theatre with the GA floor feel of a smaller rock club. maybe we should start a letter-writing campaign. looking forward to tomorrow and saturday- hope to finally meet some of you face to face... -

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
last cigarettes replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
never got to see the jayhawks proper, but have loved their music since hollywood town hall (esp. that album and tonorrow the green grass). did get to see gary and mark play together as a duo on their tour for ready for the flood in 2009. excellent show and album. too bad their personal differences seem to preclude any near-future collaborations- maybe time can heal some wounds... -
that's one hell of a show. caught them at the paradise in boston november of '06, when lou first came back- by far the loudest show i've ever been to (and that includes metallica at the centrum and ministry/sepultura/helmet at a hockey rink in fitchburg). j uses that marshall stack for all it's worth.

-
JRAD. second night in a row- last night was pretty killer.
-
sounds good, WRP! will send you a PM with my info.
-
speaking of JRAD, any of you boston heads going to the shows at the paradise this fri and sat? going to both nights with a good friend (my first time seeing these guys) and would love to finally meet some fellow VCers before our wilco doubleheader at the end of january... happy turkey eve, everyone! p.s. in the spirit of thanksgiving, big thanks to VCer karl houfek, who hooked us up with some great orchestra seats for night 1 at the orpheum. you rock, karl- so great how this fan community is so happy to help out strangers based solely on mutual love of the band.
-
thanks! hope to see some of you there. pulled two balcony for night 1 that i'd still like to upgrade, but fingers crossed for better luck tomorrow or friday...
-
hey- anybody know if the password for tomorrow's live nation presale for the second orpheum show is the same as last week's? i can't seem to find it anywhere...
-
hey all- haven't been around these parts in a while, but can't wait to see you all in less than 24 hours! leaving boston in the morning- bummed about taj & king sunny ade but very happy to see speedy ortiz for the first time to kick off the night. hope to meet some of you for reals this weekend. happy festival eve- bring your dancing rainboots.

Wilco 10/29/14 Capitol Theatre - Port Chester, NY
last cigarettes replied to jcap1767's topic in After The Show
really an amazing night. i second wrp's assertion that they are so on top of their game right now. probably the best versions i've ever heard live of at least a handful of tunes if not more (it's just that simple, pot kettle black, ashes) plus a healthy selection of deep cuts. the second unplugged encore was really special too- i'd love to see them keep this tradition going even after the anniversary run is finished. bummed we only got to go to the middle show of this three-night stand but when they're on like they were tonight, i'll happily be the meat in a wilco sandwich any day... -
18th Anniversary of the release of Being There
last cigarettes replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Just A Fan
listened to it start to finish on our drive down from boston for tonight's show at the cap. happy birthday, bt! i have so many "favorite" wilco records, but this one was my first love. you never forget your first... -
been a long time- wilco!!! see you all at the show- here's hoping for the acuff-rose we missed in boston...
-
by the by, i have high hopes for st. vincent being awesome. the cast alone is great, and a killer soundtrack to boot.

What Uncle Tupelo song should Wilco tackle on their next tour?
last cigarettes replied to remphish1's topic in Just A Fan
great topic, remphish. here's my list: 1. acuff-rose: mostly selfish on this one. i missed my request being fulfilled last week in boston and have still never seen it live (though thanks to knotgreen, at least got a taste on video). not likely with the full band, but still. 2. gun: a likely contender, at least in that wilco has played it a handful of times before. also a longtime personal fave. 3. still be around: probably the darkest horse of all. like poptodd said, i don't know how jeff would feel about playing/singing a jay tune, but this is one that has always given me chills since first -
thanks knotgreen! you just made what has been a pretty rough 24 hours a whole lot better.
-
thanks for the love, wrp. i'm happy the rest of you got to hear it. sounds like it was a great show- maybe i'll get lucky and it'll show up in roadcase one of these days.

a possible name for it just occurred to me too- saved by rock n' roll. kinda cheesy, but hey, so am i.
