Damn, that sucks. I just bought my tickets for the Atlanta show and I was going to drive the 12 hours to see them. Hope he gets better before then.

How did it take me so long to discover this album? It's gorgeous.

I have my first draft tonight at 8... This is how I'll be spending my friday night. Awesome...

Oh, hey if I had his arm I would be a closer too. IMO it's the easiest job in professional baseball. I mean, getting 3 guys out without giving up 3 runs? He's a smart kid, I'll say that. He knows where the money is. A "dominant" closer can pitch until he's 40 without really falling off, and he'll probably end up making more money this way. The Marlins infield coach retired today. Sucks, he's always been one of my favorite coaches, and he's been there for a good 5-6 years.

That makes perfect sense. He's a bug.

It depends. You are only in a one catcher league, so unless it's someone you feel is really going to boost your team a tremendous amount, I'm not sure it's worth it. Catchers get most of their value from position scarcity, especially in leagues where you have to start 2. A guy like Gregg Zaun is quite valuable in a 2 catcher league, but not so much in a one catcher league.

I'm kind of of the opinion that the closer's role is overrated, and that you never want to put your best reliever back there. They could get the most usage out of Papelbon by using him in close and late situations when the game is either tied or they are up by 1-2 or down by 1-2. Saving him specifically for when you have a 3 run lead in the ninth is a waste because you are going to win that game 90% of the time regardless of who is out there. (Those stats are like true, and stuff. I wish Bill James' book was online. He explains it better.)

What are the must have Belle and Sebastian records? I know a few songs ("Boy With The Arab Strap", "Seymour Stein") so what should I get?

Jeff's rewritten the same songs mutliple times, lyrically. "Someday Soon" and "Radio King" use some of the same lines. "Chinese Apple" and "Heavy Metal Drummr" the exact same 2nd verse.

Seeing as Erstad is probably #1, I'll go with #2. Erstad sucks.

I've got pretty high hopes for Teahan. I think he'll either be batting directly in front of our behind super prospect Alex Gordon, so I think the front end of the Royals lineup will actually be pretty dangerous, and I think Teahan can be a top 10 3B this year. And apparently Teahan is the backup CFer in KC? Rotoworld: David DeJesus [[ KC starting CFer ]] is still weak from an intestinal virus and may not return to the lineup until next week. DeJesus is hoping to begin working out over the weekend. Interestingly, with DeJesus out the Royals have started Mark Teahen in center field five ti

I wouldn't dump Figgins, as he's still got some trade value. You might be able to trade him for someone with a little more power out of the 2B spot, or even go for a decent innings eating pitcher, since you've got a couple of guys who are real injury risks. Maybe Dontrelle Willis. He'll be steady and won't hurt you anywhere. You might be able to pull something off and then pick up a guy like Wigginton or Mark Ellis (if he's still available) to plug in at 2B. They'll provide neutral to positive value and won't really kill you.

Pitchfork was right with that 9.4 rating for this. This is a top notch album.

He's probably my favorite writer, and I think I've read all of his books but that one. I need to pick it up. He's everything I wish I could be as a writer.

Seriously, he needs to release a new book like, every other day. I just finished this one (took me less than a day...) and it's awesome. Actually a really well written book.

I rented this and Fast Food Nation tonight. Watched this first and I have to say I didn't expect much, and it was really good. Watching Fast Food Nation now, not sure what to expect.

I really cannot wait to do my keeper league draft this sunday. I'm keeping Upton, Santana, Uggla, Willingham, Chris Ray and Carlos Quinten. I think that sets me up with a decent bench, and the top starting pitcher in the game. I'm also going to go for Ben Sheets if he comes under 15-20 and probably gonna go all out for Peavy. Chris Ray will give me a good starting point for saves, so I may just ignore them inthe draft and play the waiver wire for saves. I think most of my keepers are going to be bench warmers for a good part of the year, though I have to say, if I can work it out so Quinten

If my mom got Extra Innings, I'd just plant myself in front of the tv and not move for the entirety of my summer break. I'll have to talk to her about it...

Well, I don't play in an innings-limited league, so I don't have to worry about that whole thing. I just think middle relievers, more than any other position fluctuate more year to year. With the exception of Scott Shields (always beastly, and a good pickup in case K-Rod gets hurt, which just seems inevitably when you watch him pitch), Mike Gonzalez (who I can't see being all that great since his WHIP and K rate don't support a sub 2.5 era, unless he sports a ridiculous ground ball ratio, but I can't find anything to support that), and a couple of others, most of them vary widely from year t
