  1. and it's not like he had to go very far to get to southern france! he's not flying there from des moines. it might have been a couple hours by train, max.
  2. the way rehab works is if you get caught doing a bad thing, you overpay for private "health care treatment" instead of going to jail like a normal person.
  3. i worked in a place that had unlimited sick days. there were about 400 employees in the company. one person abused it, taking off a whole month paid sick. she was asked to document her illness and couldn't. she was fired. they still have unlimited sick days as most in the company feel a shared bond and don't want to wreck what they have.
  4. it's not surprising. what is surprising is microsoft extending the warranty for three years. it's a microsoft box! within weeks of the initial sales, consoles were overheating to the point where a VERY popular accessory is a fan that plugs onto the back of the 360.
  5. i shelled out for seats at the very first DLR/Hagar tour a few summers ago because i thought that would be as close as it would ever get. diamond dave and his wig were killer.
  6. isn't his son 23? when does adulthood begin in america?
  7. paul stanley and tesco vee
  8. if i can score decent seats for less than $30, i'd go.
  9. Iran-Contra was the same lack of accountability. At least Reagan didn't blame Carter. Bush lied his way into a war and at the end of the day, it's Clinton's fault for pardoning Mark Rich. btw - Clinton's White House had a big for sale sign on the front lawn, be it Mrs. Rich or Chinese Diplomats over for coffee. The big difference with the Bush White House is the for sale sign says "Private Auction" underneath.
  10. senate republicans will likely vote to issue a contempt citation as it pushes the matter to the conservative judiciary.
  11. i do the prepaid cheap phone sorta thing because there's no one i want to talk to for $600.
  12. at this point, i honestly wonder how many americans would care if elections were to be suspended indefinitely.
  13. part of the problem is we are conditioned to think like politicians rather than as citizens. we should not worry about what will play well politically as much as we should think about what is best for the country. we're the combustibles in the engine of democracy, and that's a system of government that isn't always neat or pretty. bush should be impeached for the illegal wire tapping. cheney should be impeached for leaking valerie plame. gonzo should be fired for incompetence, but should have never been hired after the torture memos. of all the "conservatives" wielding near absolute power,
  14. if anyone knows of a massive protest, please post it.
  15. they should pass a non-binding resolution expressing their belief in a petition i am circulating stating the democratic party is completely impotent.
  16. one of the schools in the district where i teach takes anyone who SITS for the standardized tests to a theme park at the end of the year. attendance is one of several factors in the bottom line score for the school.
  17. He's definitely the truant president, but not when it comes to power. He makes Andrew Jackson seem quaint.
  18. this is the commutation, but he will be pardoned as bush is leaving office. as far as his future, just look at ollie north. it's not as if he's living hand to mouth.
  19. if you're a henry miller fan, check out the henry miller library. http://www.henrymiller.org/
  20. i'm not crazy about pixar stuff (or really any kid movies), but it's great that lassiter is in charge of disney animation now. he's vowed to end the tacky direct to video sequels and concentrate on stuff with shelf life. if this hits the drive-in with an excellent B feature, i'll see it.
  21. the itrip was fine in my old car that needed the exhaust replaced. i couldn't hear much regardless.
  22. Thanks Kris. I didn't see that alert before I lost the ability to hit the site.
  23. exactly what i was going to say. job descriptions are general outlines that employers can and do deviate from widely. it's a greasy situation and the company was really wrong ethically, but completely protected legally.
  24. i use the tape deck. i'm thinking of replacing my wife's car stereo with a $99 pioneer deck that has an aux input.
