he did a remarkable amount for science education. most of the old-timers at work knew the guy personally as he was very active in making science accessible in classrooms as well as at home. he was a really good dude who did a lot to get American children thinking.

you should get comcast out there to config that stuff.

try going to system preferences, network, show airport. under configure IPv4, select USING DHCP and you should get your ip address. if that fails, then they likely have some sort of static address for your machine (unlikely), which would require a call to comcast to get the configs. have you tried connecting with an ethernet cable? you should call their tech support and/or get a refund for your unusable service.

safari crashes regularly on both my intel and g4 macs. firefox almost never crashes on either. i've actually deleted safari from the dock of my laptop because it's too unstable. i have friends who are mac tech support people who also avoid safari. when i asked how to fix it, they suggested firefox.
