It's actually very rare. I read that the only time a justice was confirmed by a senate with an opposing party majority in an election year was the Democratic-majority senate which confirmed Reagan's choice of Anthony Kennedy. Partisan politics are alive and well.

The level of vitriol on forums that I frequent is off the charts, and I know many of the people personally. I could never get that worked up over politics. Sadly, every one of the celebrators consider themselves open-minded and a good number of them prefaced their cheers with "I'm not the kind of person to celebrate another person's death, but..." We should all remember that these are men and women appointed for life, not career politicians who talk out of both sides of their mouths in search of the presidency and the hundreds of millions in speaking fees and book advances that go with it.

Interesting and sadly not unexpected.

Wilco — 2/6/16, Brooklyn, NY (Kings Theatre) [Night 2 of 2]

Nope. The venue has a no smoking policy, so if staff enforce it for cigarettes then it should be enforced for weed. A patron's complaint about marijuana smoke is no less valid than a complaint about tobacco smoke. -
They're switching back, so next year's will be Super Bowl LI.

If Clapton is God, then what does that make Nels Cline?

Last year my neighbor ratted out a man smoking nearby and he was arrested. Funniest of all, it was a Willie Nelson concert. (The guy was wasted and called my neighbor a bitch after he bumped into her. Another neighbor gave him a knuckle sandwich before the cops arrived.) -

Was it an indoor venue with a no smoking policy? If so, she had every right to complain. If a venue won't allow people to smoke cigarettes they shouldn't make an exception for weed. -
Hosting a party? Going to a party? Don't give a hoot about football? My neighborhood always has a big shindig at someone's house. Last year I won $200 in the pool and the year before a neighboring house burned to the ground after a chimney fire. What will today bring? I'm heading to the kitchen to start baking 4 loaves of bread that will be transformed into muffulettas by gametime. Gluttony is my middle name.

Nothing in his remarks were racist or Islamophobic. Not even close.

Ouch! She must be feeling the Bern.

The story I read said that there were 6 coin tosses and Hillary won them all. There's a 1 in 64 chance of that happening. This all just goes to show that money really does decide elections in America.

I'm surprised that "Right or wrong, there are causes which some people find worthy of defending" needs to be explained. As far as I'm aware, there's not yet been any evidence that the dead man committed any violence. We should wait until video evidence is provided before we can pin that on him. And as far as I'm concerned, jihadis fall under my "Right or wrong, there are causes which some people find worthy of defending" banner. I wouldn't occupy a federal building because I was having a grazing dispute with the BLM, nor would I burn down an abortion clinic or pound metal spikes into tre

As far as I've read, that seems to be a statement that he made during a CNN interview earlier this month. Regarding yesterday's shooting, the circumstances have not yet been revealed. An anonymous official told CNN that the 2 men who were shot didn't comply with orders to surrender, but it's unclear if the men fired any shots and if they did, who fired first. I assume video footage will eventually be released. Maybe the men fired first or maybe the FBI fired because they raised their weapons. Video should answer the questions. Is that how soldiers, sailors and Marines should be viewed when

Same here. He used to play at a small chicken wing restaurant/bar in my hometown in Florida when he was in his early teens. He had to leave the bar when he wasn't performing because he was underage, so he'd just skateboard in the parking lot between sets.

The pink smoke ring freaks out a lot of Americans, too, if they're unfamiliar with smoked meats. The world seems to be getting smaller as far as food and drink go. On my first trip to the UK in 2001 I had the most dire burrito imaginable and everyone was drinking Budweiser. On my last visit I saw some legit Mexican and BBQ places in London and American craft beer was everywhere.

I assume her live performances are different that a Furnaces show. Those gigs were all over the place: a few lines from one song, a few lines from another and then maybe back to the first. But in a good, enjoyable way. When this video was released I sat at my computer and watched it about 40 times in a row. http://youtu.be/jjK-Ab8t7Ug

No, their release should have been a contingency of the recent nuclear deal. One of the released prisoners is a close friend of one of my best friends.

Russia is gobbling up territory and trying to rebuild the USSR while reigniting the Cold War, China is building offensive military bases in contested waters and threatening its neighbors, Iran is on its way to building nuclear weapons while threatening the US and Israel, North Korea just tested a nuclear weapon, ISIS controls large swathes of Iraq and Syria, Libya is a disaster, the EU is crumbling, we're losing the war in Afghanistan, Europe is in the middle of a refugee crisis, etc.

Sculpin is good, but at the $15-$16 price they charge here in Texas, I'll pass in favor of other local IPAs. I greatly prefer Ballast Point's Grunion pale ale, but until recently it was sold at the same price as Sculpin and that was a huge mistake. My neighbor and I love it, but we have both said that it should be a $10 beer. Last week they started selling it for $9.85 and at that price I'll drink a lot of it. Mostly, I prefer to drink my own home brew. It's fresher and usually better than the craft beer sold in the stores.

It's definitely up there. It's perfectly balanced and crafted. It's hard to beat when it's fresh from the brewery. Lately I've been drinking a very simple IPA called Yellow Rose from Lone Pint in Magnolia, Texas. Just pilsner malt and Mosaic hops, but it's a very tasty offering. I like Ballast Point's beers, but Sculpin at $16 for a 6-pack is just too expensive when there are equally good IPAs available for $10. I'm an even bigger fan of their Grunion pale ale, but stores here have been charging the same $16 for 6 cans. I was happy to see that the price has dropped to the $9.85 mark as of
