He was unique. Who else could have sold Roadhouse? Let's not forget his best work, as the creepy motivational speaker in Donnie Darko:
-
Did he thank R. Kelly?

"Run For Your Life" is a great tune, but the lyrics send it straight to stupidville. Lennon (here) can't pull off the tortured soul looking for revenge act that a proper murder ballad needs.

I think when it comes to the Beatles, 'hate' is definitely a relative term. It's along the lines of "That burger was sublime, but my third bite wasn't the best." "Third bite hater!!!"

Do I hear the rumblings of a consensus on my take on Rubber Soul? "Drive My Car" - Nice bouncy tune, but shows evidence of the band's growing pains. Not quite here or there, and not a proper opener for an album that contains "In My Life". "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" - Brilliant. Second track perfection. "You Won't See Me" - Brilliant. Only quibble is we should have more grooving before the fade out. "Nowhere Man" - The a cappella intro bugs me to this day. Besides that, a great tune, with Lennon adding to the foundation (wall?) he started to build with the song "Help!" "Think for

I think Rubber Soul is my least favorite Beatles album. I like all the songs, love most of them, but as a whole, it falls to the bottom of the list. I've always sort of believed this, but revisiting all the releases this past week has confirmed it. The only real other contender would be With The Beatles. Is this a whole other Beatles thread?

She also destroyed a racquet earlier in the match.

Watching the whole match live, it seemed to me that Serena was approaching collapse as it progressed. She was double-faulting left and right. Seemed worn out. Outplayed, for sure. My immediate reaction to the ending was that her outburst was spurred in part by a desire to be thrown out of the match so as not to lose fairly. Not saying that now, but it was my first reaction.

Interesting that no has mentioned the date revisited

9/11's at that awkward age. It no longer offers the average American with the stew-in-it emotional purge it once supplied, and has yet to reach a marketable 'big number' anniversary like the 10th. 9/11 is kind of like Oliver in The Brady Bunch right now. -
Okay, perhaps 'useless' is going too far. I just listened the A Hard Day's Night (album) in both mono and stereo...there's something to be said about the mono version - the vocals on the stereo version sound doubled up and kind of annoying.
-
That's a good cover.

Oh, man.

Quite a loaded (double-barrel too!) question and so I think my proper reply would be to ask you what you are trying to say. All I know is I watched it live, and replay after replay the commentators were unanimous in their judgment of the call. I apologize in advance for not knowing the history of tennis.

So you are joking, I guess, but what you're saying is worth answering: hearing everything in the "middle of my head" isn't anywhere near as pleasing as hearing, say, a French horn way up over yonder above me to the far left, or a bassline rumbling along to my right.

Maybe, but there weren't no foot fault.

Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

"End Medicare Now"? EDIT: Oh, I get it. Irony. -
Rolling Stones to reissue Get Your Ya Ya's Out

According to a blurb in RS, that's exactly what's going on now. Hopefully it won't be remastered to Mick's liking - he's never been shy about his dislike for the sound of Exile. -
Yeah, that is great. It was posted a couple of pages back.

Peggy Noonan wrote this in today's Wall Street Journal: It is eight years since 9/11, and here is an unexpected stage of grief: fear that the ache will go away. I don't suppose it ever will, but grieving has gradations, and "horror" becomes "absorbed sadness." Life moves on, and wants to move on, which is painful for those who will not forget and cannot be comforted. Part of the spookiness of life, part of its power to disorient us, is not only that people die, that they slip below the waves, but that the waves close above them so quickly, thesea so quickly looks the same. -
My brain exploded when I had to choose between Crash and Love Actually. I hate them both equally.

Congrats to Derek Jeter on banging 2,722 hot chicks, the latest being Minka Kelly.

Yes and yes and what do either of those things have to do with how it sounds to me? I mean what you're essentially saying is "How can you not hear how great the mono mixes sound - haven't you read about how great they sound?" I'm not against these mixes, I just right now don't see the point of having them, personally.
-
But I'm listening on headphones, and the mono mixes just sound quieter, duller, and they're in the middle of my head. Just saying, to me.

Not exactly guilty pleasures...

More than Brandy by Looking Glass? -
I think the photo was bad enough, you didn't have to add the caption "Hal*ick, seen here stoned beyond logic" - I bet that's the part that got him upset.
