I think augurus has a good point. From the rage-heavy manner in which Richards pointed and yelled "Look! He's a nigger!" I feel he was trying to make the talkers as pissed off as he possibly could. Not excusing it, but it doesn't look like a cut-and-dry case of his racist tendencies coming to a head.
