Just a fantastic weekend. A few short things:

Friday was unforgettable. All of the Wilco Karaoke winners were wonderful people and we were very supportive of one another. The band seemed to be enjoying themselves and were thanking us. We were saying, "No, no, no, thank you!" I cannot thank Wilco and the Wilco crew enough.

On Saturday, I was walking out of the museum when I get tapped on my shoulder. It was Glenn, who told me I had killed it the night before and how much fun it was. Then he told me he'd see me around Chicago. I also met Daveed Diggs, the original Broadway LaFayette/Jefferson in Hamilton.

To be told that I am a part of the Wilco family now is something 12 year old me back in 2000 would not believe.

  2. I don't think I will keep my comments to myself. I'll say whatever I want, within the bounds of the rules of this forum, and you can either like it, dislike it, ignore it, or challenge me to change it. But I will not agree to keep my comments to myself.

If I had insulted a specific performance, or someone directly, you'd have a point.

You are openly hoping people will embarrass themselves.

  3. Maybe if this proves embarrassing enough for folks, the concept will be shelved in the future.

A better idea would have been to have a karaoke event as a side attraction somewhere on-site, and have various musicians make surprise appearances. Suppose you sign up to sing a song, and right when the song starts a curtain opens and there's Glenn or Nels playing the song with you.

I’ll embarrass myself just for you, just so you can get what you want.

Or you can show some empathy for people who may not have even been on stage before and cheer and hope it goes well for them. Better yet, keep your comments to yourself.

  4. 8th in line, had my hands on the only copy of Warmer, but gave it to the guy who was 7th in line. Rolling Stones record store said they had multiple copies, but they lied.

  5. so how does one get in on a LRS group, because damn I need to... the problem is not having enough money. I dont know how people can afford it. we save yearly just to get to a couple shows a tour.

I was extremely lucky to be in a class at the Old Town School of Folk Music called the Wilco Ensemble. One of the members bid and won for several years. The people that were invited pitched in for the cost of it. When Jeff found out that the people who were coming played his songs in the Wilco ensemble, he offered to play with us instead of just for us. We made groups and picked 3 songs per group, sent him the list and he played them with us.

  6. I can see how it could have been interpreted that way, but that’s not how I heard it at all. I think he was just stating that what actually ended up on the record was very much due to Jim O’Rourke, while his influence is barely recognized in the movie.

I did think it was a good interview but that it could have been much better if Marc had not spent so much time on Jay Farrar and Uncle Tupelo. It felt pretty rushed toward the end.

Didn’t he write something similar to that in his book?
