  1. Hello,

I put this in my review of the show and I saw it in the MTV Unplugged thread. I figured I'd give everyone the heads up. Sorry, if this is somewhere else on the board in plain sight.

Anyways, it will be on in "the future". Beautiful venue. It reminds me of the type of place that would hold a German festival. I remember an old U2 video bootleg I have of them back in 82 in Lorelely, Germany I think. It looks pretty close to it. Behind the stage is a forest. The place has its charms and is unique.

    Thanks,

    Kristofor

  2. Hello,

I hope everyone enjoyed the show and had a safe trip. Anyone get lost like I did in 2006 ? I will save notes until later on. I need to get up early for a damn meeting.

First off, tonight's show was filmed by MTV and VH1 for "future use". Later in the show Jeff joked about the curfew while sliding in the fact that they were being filmed, " We have to go now.....CRIBS is coming up next. " LOL

The show started rather early. 8:10 i think till 10:05. Low finished at about 750 and than some guy from the Pines Theater came to welcome us and Wilco for coming out and said Wilco is gonna be out in a few minutes. This was at 8 o'clock. Complete daylight. It felt strange. My friends and I made it down to Pat and John's side about 7 people deep. Fantastic view.

I think before Jesus, Etc. someone up front gave Jeff and the band headbands with their name on it. Jeff asked why his looked like Olivia Newton John's. I think Glenn kept his on all show. Jeff said he was going to wear his as an ascot. He asked if it made him look rugged.

During the jam at the end of Handshake Drugs someone tried to take a picture with a flash I guess. Jeff mouthed something like " No flash. No Flash. They'll kick you out." Than he shook his head.I thought it was cool he was looking out for people.

During Hummingbird Jeff walked on down to John's part of the stage and serenaded an older gentleman upfront and on camera.

Also, he jumped the stage into the middle of the crowd and got everyone jumping. It was crazy. When he came back Jeff said "I went over to hug people and people looked at me funny like stay away." He also said how surprised he was at how much room the crowd had made for him. "Did you guys think I was going to breakdance or something."

After Hummingbird Jeff went over to his mic stand which had no mic and made off he was saying good night and being grateful. It was priceless.

A bunch of people were throwing glo sticks during Spiders. I didn't watch enough of Bonnaroo to see if that happened there or anywhere else. It looked very nice.

  3. Hello,

Well, I know you are right. I only tried to see if anyone would take the offer. Just excited to see Wilco again after Chicago last November.

For the record I am not a cell phone picker upper during shows. I just figured since it was a Sunday night maybe someone here would partake. I'll leave the field reporting to Dan Rather.

Well, i kind of figured I would get the responses that I did. You'll just have to wait until we get back from the show than. :ohwell

PS Yea, I kind of feel like an ass. Cue Sad Charlie Brown Music. Head hung in shame.

  4. Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here who was planning on staying in on Sunday night would care to receive text messages of the setlist as it is happening.

Of course, posting it here would be great. I used to see this all the time on the U2 mesage boards during their Vertigo tour. It was exciting to see on your computer what song they were playing. I haven't really seen it on here except for Webcasts. In order to enjoy the show as much as possible I probably would use acronyms.

Think of it as a Wilco penpal for the night. I'm sure that this has been tried in the past. It seems that with last year's awesome show at this venue people are really excited to see what gets played this time.

    Thanks,

  5. Hello Everyone,

Any ideas on how to burn this to dvd. I tried with Nero and no luck. I did it as a Data DVD. It might work but it won't play on my dvd players. I also tried to burn it via Windows Media Player but it was not very clear.

    Thanks,

    Kristofor

I've only had my External Panasonic DVD-R for a month. I tried a few combinations and the Data DVD seemed like the only sure thing.

  6. Hello,

I agree last year's show at the Pines was amazing....or at least the last 2 encores which is all that I caught of it. Yes, I was late for a Wilco show. Get directions. Check. Pay attention. Uh...My friends and I were late to leave anyway. It was a fucking hot 90 + degree day with no breeze. I was moving mattresses out of my house. Sweating profusely. My 2 friends were at another's Awesomefest. Don't ask. By the time we met at our local Barnes and Noble it was close to 6. We were coming from NH. I didn't get lost when I saw Tweedy in Northampton in 05. But for some reason I went past the 90 exit and got stuck in a traffic jam for whomever was playing at the Tweeter Center which is in Mansfield, MA. Keep this in mind folks - thank God Wilco has never played there. Expect 2 hours to leave their parking lot and an hour or so just sitting outside the exit in bumper to bumper traffic. So I had to turn around when I finally hit 95. Pretty much a half hour wasted. So at this point we weren't even on the Mass Pike (90) yet and have yet to go on 91. This was the bulk of the trip for us. Cut to 945 or 10 I don't really care to remember how late we arrived. I think we may have even missed an exit on 91. At this point it was a joke. We were all pissed and realized we must have had some sort of heat related mental illness. We pull into The Pines and with windows down I could hear Walken. Looking for parking spot. Hey, it's Theologians. Keep looking. Driving there's no worker directing traffic anymore. No parking from what appears to be very little parking to begin with. Turning around it's I'm The Man Who Loves You. I think we had to come out the exit to try to park again. So we pull in and now see a spot (maybe someone left early). Hummingbird is the song as we get our tickets checked. We walk into the venue and see how amazingly beautiful the venue is and see it's castle like speakers and within literally 5 seconds Hummingbird has just finished-Tweedy and co. have just left the stage. We look at each other and laugh. All this pain and humiliation to come into this. At this point it might've been 10. We find out that they came out around 8. They come back and go into Let's Fight which was well worth it. Anyways, we got to see a bit over 30 minutes. I believe there was a curfew for 1030. Which might explain why Wilco played for close to 2.5 hours. What we caught was unbelievable. We were spoiled by the Brown U show that April where we got to hang out with Wilco after the show. It was me and my 2 friends and some college kids who seemed to be there just for autographs and pictures. We were there to talk. I had never seen the band that chatty. Jeff was hilarious. Anyways, different story.

Moral of this story and other tips =

    1. Leave early.

    2. Check the Tweeter Center schedule. There is no concert there on Sunday night.

    3. Western MA truly is a different world. I would like to be out there more but it really is half a world away.

In fact, I have only been there 3 times in the past 3 years all for Wilco/Tweedy.

    4. 90 is the mass pike - the exit 22 comes up sooner than you think on 495 South. If you were to miss it and not realize it until it's too late and hit the Tweeter Center traffic you are fucked.

    5. 91 connects Springfield to Amherst and Northampton.

    6. I don't recall much of a parking lot at the Pines.

    7. Once you take the exit for the Pines you are still a little ways away.

    8. My friends and I are all college educated. We planned this for awhile. But it didn't work out the way we wanted it to. It could happen to you.

    9. Where we ended up standing was still excellent viewing.

    10. Repressed memories about missing Wilco may be not 100 % accurate.

    Kristofor

PS if you made it this far enjoy the show(s). Don't get lost. Enjoy the beauty of the Pines.

All of this led me to get tickets to both Chicago shows in November.

  7. Hello,

I will be at both MA shows. Really really looking forward to having a nice break between shows. Interesting to see what they pull out for both. I am sure Boston might be treated as a night two for MA. Although coming four days later and the show being halfway across the state :ohwell - we'll see.

PS I really wish they'd cover Marquee Moon by Television. I think they'd tear that up.

  8. I have upoload bandwidth of 386kbps and that's fast for Australia. It would take more than 4hrs to send to one person via ftp i think. So till that first copy gets out there it will be slow. Sorry.

And thats before the program gets to choose how to seed.

    Hey,

It took me only 2 hours to get it and BOY does it sound amazing. Thanks mate ! :worship

Still uploading it now to other people.

I am gonna take a long drive through this shiity New England weather to hear how this show went down.

    Thanks,

    Kristofor

  9. It usually takes a few hours before more the first snatch, especially if there are a lot of leechers. This is quite normal. Once there are more seeders. it'll really take off.

Thanks a lot, King John. :thumbup

    Thanks,

I am looking forward to the multiple seeders.

PS Who else really can't wait to hear You Are My Face, Sky Blue Sky and Hate It Here ?

  10. Downloading now and everything appears to be working just fine.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Hey Ex King John,

Thanks for the recording. We have all become spoiled. You asked if there were any problems. Well it looks like you uploaded the show about 4 hours ago and it seems that no one has downloaded it yet. I'm slowed down at 88 %. Anyone else have this problem. 86 hits and no snatches = maybe slight problem. I don't know.

    Thanks,

    Kristofor

    PS No Rush.

  11. You must have been sitting right next to me (or in my lap, but I think I would have noticed the latter), was sitting in same spot.

    Got my Pines tix, woo!

    Hey Man,

Were you the guy who yelled out "play Gun" ? The guy (who sat to the left of me one seat over) that Jeff mentioned during the show. He said something like "I can't see you out there....but every so often the darkness talks to me....like hey why don't you play Gun."

If not , well see you in June.

Awesome venue. I too was in the back at Pines and it is excellent no matter where. Allow ample driving time because it gets a little bit confusing. The speakers look like something out of a castle. Unreal.

    Three dollars and 63 cents,

I think they will blow you away. I saw them for the 1st time in 2003 at Fleet Bank Of America Harbor Lights Ya Da Blah Blah, Boston. I was blown away and wondered where the fuck I'd been to not known of this band before 2002. Well, if you look at my screen name that explains where. Bono is not a happy camper.

  12. Hello Everyone,

I had a hunch this would work. I only thought of this a few minutes ago. This is how I got 2nd row dead center for Jeff Tweedy at the Calvin Theater in Nov 05. At midnight they went on sale. It was posted in Via Chicago and I luckily checked at 1202 am and I rushed on and voila. Now it's my turn to be the grand father and let you know of this Worther's Original. Not funny. Of course, this show is only general admission but it will put some at rest.

  13. Hey,

Um yeah .......i am definitely bored before I go to an 830 Grindhouse. Upon further review I noticed the lack of some of my favorites. 2 setlists and no "epics". So only way to fix that is to do a 3rd one. Sue me if I use some songs from 1 & 2. I'll try not to. Hey, I'm just extra excited over here since I live in NH and get to see Wilco twice in MA this June. Keep those setlists coming, I may use most of those for my own iTunes playlists. A little something different than the live shows we are so lucky to have. Anyways, here it goes...let the obnoxiousness continue :

  15. Hello Everyone,

I love these posts, since I find it hard to make the perfect Wilco mix tape. Part of that is what they decide to play live. So the songs I haven't heard live in the last 3 years sound off in my mix cds. Anyone else feel that way ?

  16. Hello,

I would like to throw in my .02 cents. I spoke to John Stirratt after The Autumn Defense show last Tuesday in Cambridge, MA. I gave a short review of it and I forgot to mention something he mentioned. I told him I loved Sky Blue Sky and asked him what plans were in store after the release of Sky Blue Sky. He told me to expect the next record sooner than you think. I gave him a double whammy of a baffled face :stunned and "R E A L L Y ?!!" He said "yeah." I believe John and the whole point of this post. John also mentioned that Wilco would be in the North East in June. I wouldn't come on here to lie. It does seem possible with the recording of Sky Blue Sky that there is a plethora of material waiting to be sequenced.

    Thanks

    Kristofor

PS Anyone else talk to John or Pat on their tour ?
