Signed up for this a week ago and I’m loving this. I don’t know if it’s because of the current pandemic, but Nugs is offering a free month trial. The 99, 01 & 03 shows are worth it alone. Just resurrecting this thread to say that the 2004 NYC NYE show is missing the cover of Devo’s Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy. I mention it because the “liner notes” have been pretty good about talking about omitting a song due to an audio issue.

I think the “in the round” show that Jeff was talking about took place at the Cape Cod Melody Tent. [https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2000/cape-cod-melody-tent-hyannis-ma-4bef0f12.html] It’s an infamous venue for its’ unique design with the stage being “in the round”. There are two other unique venues like that in MA: the North Shore Music Theater & the South Shore Music Circus. I only knew of that Natalie Merchant tour when I was looking up on Setlist.FM how many times Wilco has played New Hampshire. They played up in Gilford, NH at a place called Meadowbrook Farm near Lake Winnip

I don’t remember exactly what was said, but I do sort of recall Susie or Jeff mentioning that Spencer used to play the drums in Susie’s office at the Lounge Axe when he was extremely young. They both seemed to agree that that was probably the first time. I’m not sure how drums would fit in an office of a smallish concert venue, but that’s how I heard it. Or it could be when he (with Jeff) used to come visit her at the Lounge Axe when she was in her office, he’d find his way to a drum set up on the stage. I haven’t gotten around to watching that one again.

You’re welcome! Thanks for making that cool Spotify playlist! downisthenewup, yeah that was super cool that he attempted Message At Mid Bar! I feel like it was done around 2011 during the Winterlude. Edit: It was during the 2014 Winterlude.

You’re welcome! I figured I’d make something that I’d really like to have to go through all of these amazing performances and moments. Yes, that was a killer 1-2-3! I mentioned the same thing about One True Vine over at the FB group. I don’t think Jeff forgot that it was originally a b-side. Perhaps it was written for Mavis and she obviously didn’t record it until later. I think I’m going to use the break Wed night to revisit a few of the episodes. It’s tough to narrow it down.

The Tweedy Show Tuesday April 7 Episode 19 # My Sweet Lord (George Harrison song on the Tweedy’s jukebox) Please Don’t Bury Me (John Prine cover) — show cuts out & stops airing. When they come back Spencer mentions something about a copyright notification. He think it’s because they played the George Harrison song on the jukebox. — everyone is sad about John Prine’s passing earlier this evening. Ah! TV Party! I didn’t catch the name of the Public Access TV show. Thank you! And I wasn’t sure that he was actually playing Hot Butter’s Popcorn. It sounded different on an acoustic guitar.

Oh, I agree. That’s why I mentioned being upset that the traffic made me miss The National. I guess you could blame R.E.M. too. I got there in time for their other opener Modest Mouse. Maybe they should have had just one opener. The fact that it was a weekday show made it even more frustrating to get there for all 3 bands. I remember angrily listening to the 1st 4 songs of the Radiohead show in 2003 on BCN, while I was stuck in traffic at the exit. I also was stuck in the parking lot until 3am when I saw Pearl Jam in 2008. This was around the time that they expanded the parking lot. We were

My first R.E.M. show was on the fall leg of the Monster tour. It was the first ever concert at the new Boston Garden which was called the Fleet Center when it opened. I’m sure the people from the Boston area know that. I was upset that my mother wanted nothing to do with Great Woods when they played there 3 nights that summer of ‘95. I was 16 & had no license. I can’t remember when they announced the fall tour, but I remember being super excited that they played a new song on the MTV Music Awards. Unfortunately, I only ever saw R.E.M. 6 times. 1995, 1999, 2003, 2004 (x2) and 2008 where

Excellent! Did you see the email from R.E.M. HQ with the pics from their first show? I think it was sent on Friday. Loving the Stipe impressions from Jeff. Would love to hear him do a cover of something.
