  2. Hey VCers, Here are a few sites to keep checking out this weekend to keep up with the action. 1. A collection of all Tweeted pictures in real time. Right now you can take a look at Joe's Field (most recent pic - "waiting for Mavis Staples") which is massive and filled to the brim with people. Solid Sound Festival Twitter Pictures 2. A collection of all Tweets in real time with the keyword #Solid Sound (you can change it Wilco if you want, but most people are using the # sign for a reason). Solid Sound Festival Tweets Obviously, there may be a few folks who will be tweeting the setlis
  3. Some sad/bad news from Wilco's tweet: Someone apparently has deliberately destroyed one of Glenn Kotche's snares at Solid Sound. Anyone have pics? Not sure how this could have happened? Security next to them at all? Wishing I was there....
  4. Any news on when they'll release their original score for The Box? I'm guessing it will have to be over the internet only. By the time it comes out it will be at least past 2 years since the film came out. Solace should know...
  5. I couldn't think of a better birthday gift then this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTPMB2FjgOw It actually sounds like a really naughty ad for something else....
  6. I'm pretty excited about the dunk tank....and the Ring Dings and Pepsi.
  7. Heads up: Arcade Fire on The Daily Show August 12th at 11p.m. on Comedy Central and repeated numerous times thereafter.
  8. My father sent me this mp3 of Elton & Leon's latest called I Should've Sent Roses. It sounds like they are in PIS mode. PIS = Playing It Safe. Edit: Let me elaborate: I feel like I already know how this album's rockers will sound. This song reinforces that. I feel like I already know this tune. Anyways, I think that song was broadcast on BBC 2 this a.m.
  9. And don't forget to bring a special map.....
  10. I'm sure Rivers Cuomo enjoys the company that he finds himself in.
  11. The rebroadcast is happening right now....fyi...for those who may have missed it (like me).
  12. I think that that actually belongs in this thread.
  13. Now this is what I was trying to put into words. I can picture fans of these bands beating each other over the head with it to get their point across (or tip). And they'd probably high five each other if they got the movie reference.
  14. I seem to remember him doing exactly what you said that he didn't. I remember him screaming at the sky in that whiney man-child voice of his to "Shut up! No I'm not! I'm cursing you you stupid voice so shut up and leave me alone! ". I know this for a fact because it was used in the trailer probably to sell tickets to those who were a bit skeptical about seeing this. And this little clip also garnered the most laughs during the trailer when it was shown back then. (Edit: Sure, that may be the only instance in the film, but if like you say he is very calm and reserved then it feels like a bit of
  15. I hope that Jeff & Mavis don't try to recreate this for a video:
  16. Awesome!!!! Mike Lowell's 1st at bat to replace a just injured Kevin Youkilis (15 day DL) is a 2 run HR into the Monster seats. 1st pitch too. Lowell pointed to the crowd as he touched home plate. Then he got a nice big hug from Ortiz who waited for him outside the dugout and he ended up with high fives from everyone. Fantastic moment...Boston baseball....
  17. I've listened to a ton of U2 bootlegs for every tour and yeah there are some shows where Bono's voice is shot. On others though (even in the 360 tour, especially in the beginning) it is simply amazing. Although, I kind of now take back what I said about Bono's voice on the 360 Tour DVD. That was one of the last shows and his voice was a bit tired which is a shame to have that be the tour document. But I've listened to a lot of bootlegs on this past tour and I wish that some of those shows were chosen instead to show how amazing his voice still is.
  18. I love both The National & Arcade Fire. I think it's pretty funny to have a war between fans like it was Tupac vs. Biggie. Although, I think with the fans involved I don't expect any drive by shootings. Maybe something a bit more dramatic. Anyways, in the 90s I loved both U2 and R.E.M. I know that there were people who were either in one camp or the other to show allegiance. Point is that a lot of those people who missed out on either of those bands in that decade (heck, or even in the 80s) are now coming around to them and pissed that they were juvenile. I'm thankful for options and
  19. His voice is still pretty amazing. Just check out the 360 tour DVD.
  20. Now that's the song that every diehard U2 fan has been waiting for them to do. They only did it at the Hershey Stadium Outside Broadcast Rehearsals in 1992. They kept trying to get Acrobat to go into Zoo Station. I wouldn't mind seeing Acrobat go right into Breathe to start a show. Although, a little birdie told me that U2 has changed their opening song on this European leg. It's important to note because it's an older song which is rare for U2 to do. They almost always open each tour with a song from the new album they are promoting.
  21. I seem to remember not really liking this film. I remember seeing the same trailers for it, since May of that year (2006) and the film came out in November. Sony Pictures is notorious for doing this. They did the same thing with Salt (same trailer since last holiday season of 2009) which I hated, but I'll get into that if need be. Bite size review of Salt: It didn't bring anything new to the table, in fact, it was a setback for the spy on the run thriller. The villains were Russian. At least Knight & Day, Wanted and Mr. & Mrs. Smith had something fresh and original to them. Plus, I wou
  22. Another update: It looks like U2 rehearsed another new song (later in the evening) titled For Your Love which was a rumored song title back during the No Line On The Horizon sessions. This song has a nice and slow groove to it and Bono takes the song into his falsetto range at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URETkbpOaqs&feature=player_embedded Some other "new" older songs that made appearances today were Gloria & Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World which has not been done since the last Zooropa show in December 1993.
  23. The Kids Are All Right - I don't think I addressed everything as well as my 1st time last night. I may go back here and add things as I remember how I wrote them.
