Far too young to be gone. Sympathy to all who loved him. RIP.

Hmm - this sounds really fun. Tempted to park the volvo in Buffalo and do the Erie Canal bike path to Albany and then to North Adams. Did not know that North Adams was kinda at the west end of the state.
Donna - you of course are up for this and I will get you a bike.
You're pretty funny!

Love this. The Ukrainians make me ashamed of all my whining about first-world-type problems...and proud of the human spirit. We know they will prevail in the end but it's horrific watching them being brutalized.
Putin's own turn is coming though, and probably in the form of being fragged by his own countrymen. If I were him, I'd stay out of any tall buildings, since a surprising number of Russians seem to fall to their deaths.

So I'm beginning to think toward ssf7, and decided to do a bit of organizing of my travel gear. It's obvious I've been to all 6 previous ssf's because I have literally 8 rain ponchos, a couple of scotchguarded hats, and a plastic zippered bag to contain my backpack in a deluge.
I'm prepped! If anybody needs a poncho at #7, just give a holler. I'll pack a spare.
Let's go, rain!

I wish I could be there! Have a magnificent party, Gorman!

Russia has abandoned all pretense of civility today. The world needs to stop Putin.
This is more painful to watch than the pandemic was...is. This is a nightmare of unrelenting agony.

With Solid Sound ahead, I've decided I wanted to read Michelle Zauner's autobiography, detailing her young adulthood with her Korean mother, and her mother's passing from cancer. Michelle is Japanese Breakfast.
Has anyone else read this? I'm about 2/3rds through the book, and I'm so in love with her writing! She is a gifted, insightful writer as well as a talented musician. It's a book I'm enjoying so much that I'm already sorry it will inevitably end. So human, so moving. So powerful!
"Crying In H Mart", by Michelle Zauner.

Had some more communication with my friend. So far, Poland has taken in 800,000 refugees since the war started & it's rising rapidly. When the missile attack on the nuclear reactor started a lot of people started taking iodine tablets in case there's a fire on the order of Chernobyl. Things are bad & getting worse all over Europe, in particular the eastern & northern parts.
Horrifying developments. Putin has lost it completely & doesn't care. It's seriously scary.

I am old enough to recall my parents paranoia with the missile crisis in Cuba in the '60. My only hopes for this horror are a rebellion of oligarchs or a coup d'état in Russia.
That's a bleak assessment but I think you're probably right. Meanwhile, Ukranian genocide happening. 😔

Terrific review! I could put myself right inside that audience from your detailed description. Thanks!

I have a friend in Poland & she says that some people there are packing up there stuff in case they have to flee. I told her she should get out & come here but daydream with no money.
What a horrible position to be in, as you just try to live your life (hard enuf). My heart hurts for everyone in the region.

Putin's reign of terror needs to end. I doubt any of his precious oligarchs could capably step into his position, if he were to um vanish.
The oligarchs are all too busy hiding out in their superyachts in the Maldives!

Because I can't ignore it...I'm depressed, furious, proud of Ukrainians, heartbroken for their losses, desperate for good to somehow prevail in this David-and-Goliath story.
Anyway let's talk about it. How is this hitting the rest of you?

Backstage at Largo
Friday February 25
Orphan (Spencer on thigh slaps. Macie Stewart & Sima Cunningham on backing vocals.)
— Jeff explains that they are backstage at Largo at the Coronet Theater.
— Jeff gets his “game face” on, as do the rest of the band.
— Jeff can’t reveal who’s next door in the backstage area because it’s a surprise for the audience. Susie says that the surprise was ruined on social media by using the surprise guest’s initials. Jeff jokes “how do they know it’s not Norm Oscarberg.”
— the band members give Susie their names & ages.
The Losing End (Neil Young cover. Spencer on thigh claps & backing vocals. Macie, Sima, Liam & Sammy on backing vocals. James Elkington on an unplugged electric guitar.)It Must Be Love (Labi Siffre cover. Spencer, Macie, Sima & Sammy on backing vocals and thigh slaps. James Elkington on electric guitar.)
— Jeff hopes that the show gets picked up, while they’re out in Los Angeles.
We were all treated to a very surprise stream of the backstage rehearsal. I sure hope that Norm Oscarberg was a hit tonight.
Norm was terrific, and he even had a surprise guest of his own, his former castmate Jason O' Hara!

So Largo is a pole dancing club? Interesting choice of venue.
Unfortunately Largo doesn't allow photography during the shows, so I can't show you any of the dazzling performances. 😢

I'm sorry to hear this, but I understand...I pulled out of going to SBS for the same reason. Thanks for generously considering other fans!
