It has seemed far away for so long that I'm a bit startled to realize that in 4 days I get to see the TWEEDY BAND.
OMG, is anybody else going? I need to wash my hair.
ID yourselves, I'll make us a list! I'll be somewhere up front (I promise) so please, come and say hi!

Way over 2 years since I bought the tickets finally seeing Drive-by Truckers tonight. It will be a challenge as I had a rugged week with doctors & medicine being practiced on me. If all goes well, The War on Drugs to follow on Tuesday.
May the rock gods be with you! And I hope some good is gotten from your treatments.

i don't remember Justin in The Babies but i did see them once because of the Morby and Cassie/Vivian Girls connection. I liked this song a lot back in the day, will have to check out Justin's work.
He and Cassie were a couple for awhile.
Night Shop's 2018 album, "In the Break", is a great place to begin listening. John Stirratt is a huge fan of this album too. I'm just learning the newest album (Forever Night) but I can tell I'm going to love it. The title track is a lot of fun. I'm a sucker for a terrific lyric and Justin always has an interesting perspective! I could listen to him all day.
He's also a phenomenal live performer!

Just got home from the most fabulous Record Release Party for the brilliant Justin Sullivan of Night Shop, at Zebulon in L.A, one of my favorite clubs. Anna St. Louis opened with a gorgeous set, and after a break Justin blasted onstage with his band & "Forever Night", the title cut of the newly-released album. The crowd outdoors on the patio quickly moved inside and from there on it was a pure party. SO much fun, damn but he's good! The place was jumpin'!
My husband and I ran into Justin's former bandmate (Babies) & an alumnus of Solid Sound, Kevin Morby, there to help Justin celebrate. Kevin stuck to cheering as an audience member. What a great show!!!
It's 2:17 a.m. and I can't wind down.

This is my first time posting and I hope I'm not doing it incorrectly! I'm looking for 2 tickets for Chicago Saturday night if anyone has any to sell! Please let me know :-)
Hi Kernel, welcome to Via Chicago! I was going to advise you to post this request in our Tickets sub-forum, called "How to Fight Loneliness", but I checked and saw that you found that & posted there too. Good luck! I know there are some extra tickets floating around out there, so I hope someone can help you out. -
Good luck! I hope someone picks up on this.

Have a blast, everyone who can go! I was at the Auditorium Theatre for the last 2 dates of the original YHF tour. How has it been 20 years? I wish I could afford to travel for these!

Us California kids ALWAYS got gypped out of snow days.

This storm sounds pretty daunting. I hope you'll all be warm and safe.

Thinking of all of you in the path of this monstrous Atlantic seaboard storm. I hope you are all hunkered down & will take no unnecessary chances. Be safe.
And please, those of you in the path, check in as you can and let us know how it's going.

I'm only a third of the way in but completely enjoying this. Some true-blue fans just loving on the Wilco for why we all love them.
Thanks for sharing, Jon

I'm really happy with this lineup. A terrific mixed bag of new and unfamiliar acts with tried & true & trusted ones that I'll love to see again. Styles ranging all over the map, with something to please everyone. Lucky #7 is going to be charmed.
Looking forward to Cut Worms, JB, Hand Habits, so many others!- 2

I realize that's true. It's just a lousy situation all the way around.

I wonder if a class action lawsuit will be made against Cloud 9?
The petition numbers have continued to grow even at this late date!
There are a lot of very disgruntled Cloud 9 customers.
-
I don't blame Wilco for this at all. I think Cloud 9 is financially in over their heads and likely contracted to HRH in such a way that they'll lose their shirts if this festival (and others?) don't happen. I feel that Cloud 9 is the problematic entity here.

So if anybody wants to start a gofundme to help recover my $2300 I'd be cool with that.
Heavy sigh.

Is that a cactus or a sculpture?

David makes such beautiful stained glass pieces! This one is particularly striking.

Thank you for that, Sandoz! Exactly the info I needed.

See you in North Adams!
I'm in the same boat with you. 3 different family members testing for covid today, so I may have travel insurance coverage (but probably not). It's being stressful NOT to go so I can just imagine how conflicted many people are who are still planning to go, if only to avoid losing all that money! The medicine kits people are packing are going to take up a big chunk of their luggage space!
I don't wish ill on anyone, going or staying home. But I don't expect this to work out well. Some people may be in for a rude awakening. ☹
Now Reading 2022

Am I missing a topic, or has everyone stopped reading? I sort of doubt that, but it appears we need a 2022 reading thread so here we are.
I've just finished the most amazing and absorbing book about Juana of Castile, who was the last Spanish queen. Her story proves the saying that life is stranger than fiction can ever be. What a life she led, and was forced into...and what sheer strength and resolve and bravery she brought to it. Read this book. I was mesmerized and had trouble even putting it down for at least the last half of the book. Absolutely beautifully written. You'll love being in the thick of it, and not soon forget this woman. Or this author.
Historical fiction at its finest. Only called fiction, necessarily, because some meetings and events must be imagined.
